Only pretty good Deal I see this week is: Best Buy has Sony 25 packs DVD+R 8x & DVD-R 8x on Sale for $7.99 (Decent Media) Does anyone know WHO makes Staples Brand DVD Media?
Edit to add: Best Buy also has 15 pack spindles of Fuji DVD+R DL blanks for $29.99, 2 bucks each basically. I don't know who makes these either. I do know who makes Verbatim DVD+R DL though.
Very Good ones. Singapore!

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

as a matter of fact, i do...

it's all basically crap, but you can be the judge of MY opinion of them:

1. CMC MAG. AE1 8x (this is in the dvd-r format)

2. FUJIFILM03 8x (in the dvd-r format again..you aren't gonna get "lucky" either way regardless of which one you get...both made in taiwan)

3. CMC MAG.E01 8x (this is in the dvd+r format, staples sure loves CMC MAG eh?)

4. MBIPG101R04 8x (dvd+r format again...wow, choices choices...this one is Moser Baer made in India...honestly i don't know which one i would NOT get first~) LOL

there ya go...media ID lesson 101 for Staples media...the SLOWER rated speed for Staples (2x and 4x) are almost ALL made by Optodisc, yet ANOTHER "not so good" manufacturer~

docTY~

*edit for YOUR edit bunnyrip*

you could get one of 2 manufacturers for the Fuji DL, both made in taiwan~ :)

RICOHJPND00 or the RitekD01...while I PERSONALLY have had good success with the Ridata Ritek DL with that same media ID coding, MANY others have not been so lucky~ :) but, what i WILL say is, if you are in the market for DL media, stick with Verbatim (made in singapore) they have been the most CONSISTENT DL media, in my opinion, at this point in time~ i rank them #1 in DL...(200+ Verbatim DL burned thus far, 1 coaster due to power outtage during the burn...now that is electricity company's fault, not mine nor Verbatims~)

Recommended Media:

Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Thanks docTY~!
If anyone knew this, you would. I think I'll wait till I see Better Media this week, If I do. The Sony 25 packs at BB are surely MITs, Just "OK" though, BUT My Stock of TYs is OK for now. :-)
Have good one Buddy! :)

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Those are good media....but, wait next time! Those 50-packs of Sony MIJ are on-sale a lot for 14.99/50-pack at Staples and Best Buy.

Happy burning!

All those spindles of Staples 8x in both formats say Made in India,at my local store. Moser Bauer would be the manufacturer if they say made in India.

30 cents a pop for MBI media,no way. I'll wait for another sale or drive an hour to find some quality stuff for that same price!

Edit:
This weeks sales totally suck a**!

Office depot has memosux $15 a 50 pk.
Office Max has Khypermedia at $14 a 50 pk.
Comp USA has 16x TDK for $15 a 50 pk.

No road trip for me today!

HP a1118x-b/athlon 64-3300+/BenQ 1650 BCDC/LG 8163B/Modded Wii/Epson-R300 and Ty Watershields!!!

Yep, This week's media Sales totally BITE. The only halfway decent deal is Sony DVD+ & -R 25 packs at Best Buy for $7.99. They'll be MIT, but I have used these with pretty good success. I think next week Verbs will be the Sale item a Best Buy. Just a Theory.I hope so.
Verbs are reallly very good, and for $14.99 ON Sale, I'll stock up.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Speaking of who makes what...anybody know who makes the (i assume) crap they're selling at Circuit City. I see they have Nexxtech(?) on sale this week. Like 50 for $10 or something. Just wondering....

@mounties

as a matter of fact, i know the answer to that one too~

you got your choice of CMC MAGs or AML for those discs, 2 companies i would definitely stay away from...honestly, not worth the $10 and the drive there...

i would rather just stick to what i know works..

verbatims -- MCC
sony -- MIJs -- TY
or TY directly online form
http://www.rima.com

edit:
here is what video help states on it. but they are stating that cmc was better.and cmc is GREAT.. we all know they arent. so that just tells you how bad these are

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=3615

its too much of a game.. just stay away from them

Hallo,

Get ur asses over to best buy for 25 SONY DVD+/-R for only $8, we're NOT talking about any rebates here, its just $8 so there is no upperlimit to the ammount u can buy. I just bought 4 packs of - and 2 packs of +.

Its rare u see this kinda price without rebate. EVEN crap phillips are $15 after rebate when they are on sale, so u would only buy 1- because u can't get a 2nd rebate.

BTW i scaned them to by acutal sony made ones... not TY.

g,
j
