That could be because it still has some protection junk.Run the movie through VobBlanker.

Could you be a little more detailed? What do you mean by "it won't shrink". Are you saying after you hit back up nothing happens, it freezes or what?

The main movie compression setings wont let me make it lower than 99.9 percent. the movie goes on to my hard disk fine but the resulting file size is over 5 Gigabytes. i want to back up the film to a 4.7GB DVDR

Not all movies will give you 100% compression.
Example: I just backed up Venom, which is only 85 minutes long. The best I could get was about 77% compression and that was doing the main movie only.
By the way, what movie are you trying to backup?

The longest yard, any ideas on how to get it to fit on a 4.7GB DVDR without sacrificing the menus.

peterttt,
In Shrink use Still Image on all of the extras you do not want but you are going to have to compress it. Are you trying to do a movie w/ no compression as what you wrote in the threads above.

You can go into Shrink>Edit> Preferences> Target size and set it to custom and the number to the right to 4300

I agree w/ Car.Mike, it's probably something like that. But if it really is just a HUGE movie, then you could run it through Shrink again.

dvd shrink will physically not let me compress the movie below 99.8 percent. 99.8 percent is as far as shrink will physically let me shrink the dvd. usually you can shrink a dvd down to something like 40 percent.

@whom may concern or those that needed or interested,

Do you have "uncompresseable, unshrinkable, out of memory, invalid data structure, etc."? "Uncompressable" is the latest junk from ARccOS, "out of memory" is another crap from RipGuard and "invalid data structure" is some useless craps, dummy cells, fake encrypted sectors, etc. To solve the problem, just follow the 2 following guides and that should take care of all your problems.

Here's 2 FREE methods for Newbies only or those that needed and I GUARANTEE that you'll be able to successfully rip and backup any dvds/movies if done right. I've primarily used these 2 methods for ripping and backing up movies and I've never experienced any issues whatsoever.

No AnyDVD, no DVD43, no DVDIdle Pro, no DVD Region+CSS Free, no misery, no black screens, no glitches, no dummy cells, no chapters jumping, etc.

- tools needed; all tools are FREE (excluding Nero Recode 2)
<> DVDFAB Decrypter
<> VobBlanker
<> DVD Decrypter
<> PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS
<> DVD Shrink
<> Nero Recode 2 (not necessary needed, if you're going the FREE route)

<><> method 1 **use Alkohol's DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker 2.1.0.0** <><>

<> rip the movie with the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter
<> PROCESS your VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker (only 10 - 12 minutes)
<> import/load your newly created VIDEO_TS file into DVD Shrink (or Nero Recode 2, your choice) and transcode as normal
<> burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO image file at your desire burning engines, such as Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, etc.

<><> method 2 **DVD Decrypter + PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS** <><>

<> rip the movie with PgcEdit using PSL plugins through DVD Decrypter
<> process craps, junks with FixVTS via the Wizard
<> transcode the VIDEO_TS file with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice) as normal
<> burn your final VIDEO_TS or ISO image at your desire burning engines, such as Nero Burning Rom, Nero Express, DVD Decrypter, ImgBurn, etc.

For more info on how to use VobBlanker http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/234 -- and how to use PgcEdit + PSL plugin + FixVTS http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/271
Or check on those 2 bold links under my sig.

Best of lucks to all and happy burning!!! Remember, all tools are FREE, except Nero.
