Im trying to copy goodfellas onto dvd-r but im having a few problems. Firstly, goodfellas is a double sided dvd which means half way through the film I have to get up and turn it over. I have put the film on my hard drive using dvd decrypter (I put all the vob, ifo, bup files in the same folder). When I try to use squeeze the film to 4.7gb dvd2one only lets me select 1 title. Could someone please tell me what Im doing wrong or even if this is possible.
Thanks

I read all the guides and did all the searches. I tried everything to get it done and it was just beyond the scope of my abilities. I left the disc alone and will wait for an easier way.
It is a time consuming and difficult process, for me anyway.

DVD2One v1.1.1 FULL-DISK mode
That might do it...
...or you might have to run files through IfoEdit to GET VTS SECTORS.

HERBSMAN: How will v 1.1.1 change anything? You still have to rip both sides of the movie to a single folder. There are multiple VOB and IFO files. How will the new version combine these into a single disc?
I do not think this will work. You need to make changes to certain files within the folders. Like I said, I spent about 8 hours trying different combinations of rippers, and burners and IFOEDIT and couldn't figure it out.
If someone haas an idiot's guide to doing this, preferably without IFOEDIT which is still chinese to me, then please do post it, there are alot of people interested.

I have given up hope now. I used the guide (link at bottom) to try to join the vob files. All went well and I had 8vob files(4 of which I had to rename) and I used the IFOEDIT tool. I now had all the files in 1 folder and everything seemed to be going well. When I started to use DVD2one (version 1) the thing crashed after only 1%. It does seem a bit tricky to achieve this.

By DVD2one (version 1) if you are talking about 1.0 I would say use at least 1.02. I have used that guide you mentioned using for test purposes to put 3 bob the builder dvd on 1 dvd+r and to put Pearl Harbor both disks on 1 dvd+r and it does work. Like I said if version 1 you mentioned is 1.0 it was flaky on its on. Probably reason you got the crash.

Interesting question. I also have Goodfellas and it is a two sided DVD. Currently there are no one disc/one button solutions for this, so I mailed the developers of both DVD2ONE and DVD95COPY to ask them what they thought.
DVD2ONE are not actively pursuing this, as the believe that there are not many two sided DVDs around.
DVD95COPY are pursuing this for the reason, presumably that DVD2ONE are not pursuing it. If you see what I mean ;)
In other words, expect DVD95COPY to have this feature on future releases.
Paul.

I'd have to agree with DVD2One on that subject matter.
I've only ever come across one double sided DVD here in the UK & that DVD came from a PRIVATE SHOP (nudge-nudge,wink-wink).
The 2nd side just had a stupid photo gallery & some crappy extras.

Sorry to contradict Herbsman (no doubt a nick to suggest that you enjoy the occasional 'herbal' cigarette?) but there are plenty of them out there. The crime was committed by Warner Bros mainly, who also mainly use those crappy cardboard covers. Anyone who started their collection a few years ago will have some of these. Granted, if you are under 18 (hope you haven't been rumbled, Herbie!) then you are unlikely to have seen them, but I assure you they exist.
There was, in fact, a big press thing about this a few years ago, they even agreed to replace some of them with new dual layered (NEW!?!?) DVDs, but I am not sure how it went.
Just for the record, my collection has 4.
Paul.
PS : I was a little disappointed at the slightly cynical view that this function would not be needed, as backup software would have a better legal argument if it offered these features, IMHO.

Actually herbie I kinda wish you where my neighbor it is kinda tight here.
As Far as the age it has nothing to do with it as In a (how was it you said) in half a decade I will be old enough to be your dad then or now but still love a splif on occasion. As can probably be seen by some of my rambling posts.

Nice long winded thread about nothing between Mods and senior mods. How about using PM?
Some of us would actually like a simple answer on how to squeeze this disc onto a single side. Do any of you think you can find the time from your busy chatter to post a simple reply?

I considered not answering you at all. Then I considered ripping into you, because, frankly we help thousands of people and if you don't like us blowing off steam once in a while, you know exactly where you can stick it.
Then I decided to explain. This is how it works.
1 A question is posed (probably in the wrong forum).
2 Further (often unrelated) questions are (usually improperly) posed by people with brains the size of cheerios. (For those Brits amongst you, substitute Cheerio with Polo mint.)
3 Members (OK, usually Dela) respond with helpful and insightful answers.
4 A couple of dorky noobs ask for cracks, or free downloads to this or that : I (or another consciencious Mod/Admin) gives them a kick.
5 The question gets reasked in 47,000,000 other threads without the poster having the sense to check if it has been answered elsewhere. (This is a ridiculous chicken and egg situation, as the more useless repeated questions we get, the more likely it is for people NOT to find the answers to their questions in the first place)
6 A couple of Mods and/or Senior Members have a chat in a friendly sort of way, blowing off a little steam, making this a fun environment to work in.
7 You kick off, without any warning and make absolutely certain that I am very unlikely to answer any questions you pose in the future, let alone this one.
8 You get bored with Afterdawn and leave (not a moment too soon) because you are living a boring unfulfilled existence, which no doubt fuels your need to attack us unnecessarily and need to rip into someone else.
9 I sit back with my feet up and a beer and possibly a Camberwell Carrot (bringing us full circle).
There is another way you know, let me hint at it here :
Be nice and don't take yourself so seriously. You are not paying us, you know.
Paul.

I think loaded has just about summed it up. I have only been backing up DVD's for a few months now and already I am tired of reading the same question over & over. By the way, I have done several flipper discs to 1 dvd-r.
used vobedit to combine the .vobs
used ifoedit to create the .ifo files
guide here: http://ifoedit.wh.fr0zen.com/joinclip.html#joindbl used dvd2one to shrink to 4.36gb
then burned.
(simple but takes a bit of time)

Lunatic,
When you say combine the VOB's do you mean rename all vobs and edit them with vob edit? I have been trying to do this my only problem is I do not know where to find the damn VOB ID's in VOBedit. when you open a vob there a so many different things.
