I have a version 7. Check all the BIOS legs and no bridges visible. Check all fuses and seem okay. Are there any other reason why there are no video? Everything seem to be working, fan, lights and the screen flicker when I turn it on or press reset but it just go to a black sceen after it flickers. Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like it overheated, you will most likely need a new ps2.

did you put a mod chip in? and if so what kind? is it a cheap clone of a better one, if so, it might be the chip. also, if you put a mod chip in you could have fried your bios chip.

I tried to install a dms4 se pro but took everything out and clean all the points but no luck. I didn't smell any burns on the board though.

It could be fixed, it would be expensive. I don't know how. It happened to me and I bought a new ps2.

DMS chips are very prone to this if they have any pressure on the chip at all, make sure the mobo shield isn't pressing tight against the chip, also make sure the mobo shield is still properly grounding against the RF outlet and lastly disregard everything dg0896 posts, he's an idiot just trying to troll for flames and jack up a post count.

you have a short on one of the bios legs more then likely, check them with a multi meter for shorts, it's very common for inexperienced people when it comes to soldering to put to much on and allow it to run under the chip so it may not always be visible.

And also, if you knew how to follow the thread you would know that he has already tried everything you told him to do, so don't tell him to disregard my sugestions.

ahh another double post, working overtime to jack up your thread count aren't you?? are you using that ranking under your name to try and make up form something your lacking in real life? does your mommy not show you enough attention??
and just so show i paid attention, in his first post he said it's a v7, you then had to ask which version because you couldn't comprehend that. then you know without a doubt it's overheating when it has a BSOD after a mod and it's not even had time to heat up. overheating, while very uncommon, happens after the console has booted and played for a period of time, not on boot. do i need to break this down further for you to understand??

Yeah. I already examined all the pins with a high power magnifying glass and they look clean so I doubt there's any bridging. Unless my BIOS chip got fried some how or there's a short some where. I can't figure out what might be causing the problem.

bridging isn't always visible as it can be under the chip and you'll never see it. use the meter to test the legs for shorts.
I've repaired at least 20 consoles that had under chip bridges that the user couldn't see.

KC36330,
I tried to use a multimeter but I keep getting inconsistence reading from multiple pins even the one that I didn't solder so I'm don't know if it's accurate or not. I don't know too much about it as you can tell. I used very little solder so I kind of doubt that there might be bridging but who knows. How did you fix the bridging problem under the chip? Hope I don't have to take the whole bios chip out.

thats how i fix them when in question, i remove the bios chip and clean the chip and the mobo and reinstall it. i do not suggest this to the inexperienced as you can damage the chip if you don't know what your doing or don't have the experience to do such a task.
on the meter your looking for direct shorts the inconsistence are the biasing of the chip as you apply voltage via the meter, i suggest using a high impedance digital meter here and never use an analog meter on TTL circuits.

if you used it on a continuity setting for diodes then you've most likely fried your bios chip, this feature is used to check the forward bias voltage and will apply in most cases up to 9v (12v on that meter) across the connection in an attempt to gain forward bias.
you should of been using Ω settings on the lowest range and you should get 0 Ω if it's shorted.

When I set it to 2M ohms most of the time I would get -0.00. I think that's what I'm looking for between the pins, open circuit. But sometimes I get 1 point something from different pins even the unsoldered ones so I have no clues to what it means. Just like the pin in the middle with the biggest trace and another pin would give me a reading. I'm guessing that's ground?
You think I should try removing the BIOS chip?
