You say you use Shrink with the same movie on your computer?
Or do you just watch it to make sure there isn't a problem with the film.
--Edit__Just making sure its not a particular disc that Shrink isn't capable by itself of doing. Watching a movie and encoding its files are a little bit different.

It may still be the discs, as the tolerances of different drives lasers are different...some drives are better readers/burners than others. What brand blanks are they?

Its not the discs I've successfully backed up 3 different movies on my computer, and when I try the same movies on his to see if they will work I get the same problem each time.
" DVD Shrink has encountered an erroe and cannot continue
Copy protection error
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."
Like I said confused the heck oughta me.
FYI the dvd drive is a pioneer dvr 110D.

Is this the same drive on both PC's, if not see my first response. You aren't running any extra proggy's like AnyDVD or DVD43 that your nephew isn't are you.

Try ripping to HDD first using DVDFab Decrypter, it is free and can be found here: DVDIdle.com/free/htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free/htm

Are the movies you are trying on his PC originals or the ones you've already backed up?
