DVD SHRINK AND SUBTITLES

I am new to backing up dvd's but I have made several backups using dvd shrink and a guide I found on this site. My question is the guide says to always keep all subtitles, what happens if you don't? I have played my backedup dvd on my computers, and three different stand alone players but one plays the dvd with subtitles I have changed the setting on the player but they won't go away. I have thought about removing them in dvd shrink but am hesitant since it works for the majority of my players. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't know about DVD Shrink (still haven't got round to testing it yet) but DVD2One will let you extract whatever subtitles you dont need (as well as audio not needed)

Option above is always an alternative if DVD Shrink will not satisfy in extricating subtitles not required.

This may sound like a bumb question but, would I need the english subtitles for any reason I never use them.

Not such a dumb question...

I've taken ALL subtitles out of certain movies before.
If you dont need 'em take 'em out...especially if you want to save room.
ie ; your authoring tool not having to work so hard at compression if over 4.36Gb.

A subtitle set takes up about 2MB so removing them makes bugger all diferrence really.
The reason you might want to keep the English ones is that some movies use them when the onscreen language changes to something other than English. i.e. the 'Elvish' in Lord of the rings won't appear as Englisg subs if you have removed the subtitles.

I was going to add someting like that malum...

Much like in 'The Bourne Identity' too, I'm glad I leave the english in cos just for a few sentences throughout the film.

Hi and Help ive just started to use dvd shrink and its work good and its all so gave me a hard time so here goes my 1st problem and most impotant is that after i re-author my vts files and go on to the re-encode and reduce my file size once this has completed it starts to be re-mapped and gets just a little like a quarter through it throws an error such as VOB-idn innv-pck and reason unknown does anybody know whats up with that?
