Anyone know if he Ps3 will have a multi media center like xbox & xbox 360 have ?

Probably just bluray and dvd movies. But XviD? That an illegal codec, so no. If it supported DivX, then XviD would be playable too, but they would have to pay license fee for every console sold, so I highly doubt that DivX will be supported.

Original xbox can play divx/xvid only when modded. If not modded, then you can only watch dvd's and that requires a remote controller.

Xbox 360 can indeed download trailers from live, and play them from HDD, but not your own videos (unless you stream them from mediacenter pc, which is quite sucky, because you can do the same thing with tv-out which allows you to play any formats).
