I've been trying to burn the Sex In the City series. DVD Shrink keeps failing at the reading the disc step. I get the 4096 error. I posted about this earlier and looked for posts on this issue. I got around it by getting DVD Fab Decrypter last weekend but am later this week I ran into the same people. It is always towards the end of the disc.

The DVD Decrypter Error list is below. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

DVD Decrypter can not rip/handle any of the new encrypted protections, unless you're an advanced user and or you're using PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS to help DVD Decrypter, then it shouldn't be any issues for DVD Decrypter to rip and backup at all.

I suggest you get the below free tools, yes... they're FREE and I GUARANTEE you'll be able to rip and backup any dvds/movies, regardless if it's encrypted with ARccOS or RipGuard protections.

<1> DVDFAB Decrypter (one of the best ripper at the moment)
<2> VobBlanker (one of the best invalid data structures or dummy cells processing tool, it can easily blank out any unwanted junks "i.e. fbi warnings, previews/trailers, commentary, etc.")
<3> FixVTS (another awesome invalid data structures or dummy cells processing tool)
<4> DVD Decrypter (a ripper and burning engine)
<5> ImgBurn (a burning engine "for ISO image" from LUK, the author of DVD Decrypter)
<6> DVD Shrink (a transcoder/compresser engine, also a ripper for older movies)

**NOTE: Since you already got DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, all of the tools you needed are provided in my 2 guides under my sig. with links to download, just click on the links or my name and take a real quick look/read at my blogs.

Here are 2 free methods that will work 100% on any movies/dvds (new released or old). I wrote these 2 guides for Newbies, or those that are interested or those that don't have the latest from AnyDVD.

IMPORTANT: I advise you or anyone to TURN OFF AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines that's running in the background, if you're going with these 2 free route. It's for the best... because if you had AnyDVD, DVD43 or other similar cracking engines running in the background, then you are likely to end up with some kind of errors, and or it will conflict one another only.

<><> Method 1 (DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker) <><>

**NOTE: if you have 2 hard drives, then once you get to VobBlanker process, set your OUTPUT Folder to a different location (i.e. another hard drive), this will make VobBlanker process faster (5 minutes only).

<1> rip the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter (get the latest available)
<2> process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker (only 5 - 10 minutes to "process & correct" all dummy cells or invalid data structures, etc.)
<3> DVD Shrink to transcode your VIDEO_TS file created from VobBlanker as normal via Open Files
<4> burn your final ISO image with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn

<><> Method 2 (PgcEdit + DVD Decrypter + PSL plugins + FixVTS) <><>

<1> PgcEdit to rip & re-rip the movie from scratch using DVD Decrypter with the help from PSL plugins/file
<2> FixVTS to process and filter out any left over craps, junks or bad sectors, etc.
<3> DVD Shrink to transcode/compress as normal
<4> burn your final ISO image with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn

The only different for my guides is that I only used Nero Recoded 2 with "AA + HQSR" or sometimes DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP to transcode and encode instead of DVD Shrink. You can use DVD Shrink all you want (it's free) and burn with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn. However, I highly recommend using "DA + AEC = Deep Analysis & DVD Shrink's Quality Enhancements AEC" (max sharpness or max smoothness) though, this will produces better quality in results.

For more info, just click on those 2 bold links under my sig. or click on my name and just take a quick look/read at my blogs.

Good luck and happy burning!!

have you tried this disc with fab decrypter? if yes & it will not work then download the free trial of AnyDVD from slysoft.com & run in the background whilst you use shrink

I can seem to manage disc 1 but on disc 2 I get "Get DVD information fail. 4096". This is a common error for me.

I have been using VobBlanker it is not the solution. I can't burn in DVDFab Decrypter.
