ok so right now i use DVD SHRINK and than burn with Nero
if there is any problem i use dvd decrypter and than shrink and than nero
and sometimes dvd decrypter doesnt work so instead of that im going to use DVDFAB
but what my question is.....it seems like people are using dvdfab or dvd decrypter for everydisc they burn.....is this true and if so whats the logic behind it....because adding that step to the process makes the whole process take much longer as opposed to just using shrink and nero
and one last thing....whats this nero recode people are mentioning...i have the full version...not the latest...but i have a full licenced nero
thanks for your advice/suggestions in advance
hi
people use decrypter or fab decrypter because shrink is no longer updated & cannot get past some of the newer copy protection. (decrypter is no longer updated either so that is why people use fab).
it may take a little longer but needs to be done with some movies.
nero recode is much the same as shrink. i have recode but never use it i just use shrink, so cant tell you anymore about it.
Your best bet would be DVDFAB Decrypter (2.9.7.2 or the latest, if available). Unless you're familiar with "PgcEdit + PSL plugins + FixVTS", then of course, you can always use DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 (this is my 2nd choice and preferred for any hardcore ARccOS protections).
Nero Recode 2 is from the same creator/author of DVD Shrink, but it's 2 times faster. Personally, I think Nero Recode "AA + HQSR + Assign best Quality to Main Movie" produces better quality than DVD Shrink. Nero Recode 2 is not free though, but most likely it's free whenever you purchase a new DVD burner because Nero usually comes with any new burners now-a-days. You can use DVD Shrink (it's FREE) with "DA + AEC + Max Sharpness or Max Smoothness" and you'll get good/great quality in results.
However, if you owned any 50" or higher HDTV, then I highly recommend DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP. This combo is the best, infact, it is the best encoder out there. It is "not a joke" though, it can up to 2 plus hrs - 3 hrs just for encoding a single movie.
I usually go with DVD Rebuilder Pro + CCE SP when the movie required a lot of compressions (i.e. any 65% or below on the Video Quality). If it's 70% or higher on Video Quality, then I'll use Nero Recode 2 with "AA + HQSR + Assign best Quality to Main Movie".

"AA + HQSR + Assign best Quality to Main Movie" = Advanced Analysis + High Quality Slow Recording and plus Assign best Quality to Main Movie.
Assign best Quality to Main Movie is under "More, Profiles.., Video, Quality Distribution".
"Advanced Analysis & High Quality Slow Recording" is right before you're going to burn or backup = transcode your movie.
