If I'm not mistaken, DVDXCopy is no longer being updated? Don't quote me on that.
Regardless, if you wish to remain loyal to that program (you shouldn't--I know, I used to be a DVDXCopy guy as well), you can just download one of the many free progams often talked about here and get this movie done very simply. When you're done, you can uninstall them and go back to the XCopy.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
Get the AnyDVD free download at slysoft.com it's a free 21 day trial that is the full version. It strips the DRMs off so pc thinks DVD is not encrypted. It just runs in the background. It should help xpress, but as djscoop said there are better programs. Stick around and you'll learn to backup in several ways.
The truth is that you have a cracked copy of xcopy. The registered version never says that. If the disk can't be copied due to macrovision rip guard or sony protection, it will freeze up during the reading stage.
