What software out there gets the DVD files from the source DVD to my hard disk the fastest? I have tried DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, and AnyDVD. It still takes 45-60 minutes to get the whole dvd (average movie ~7-8 GB) onto the hard disk. I hate waiting for this! are there any better programs out there?

Thanks,
don

AoA DVD COPY is the fastest dvd copy software I've ever used. It takes about 7 mins to copy a DVD5 movie, and about 15-20 mins to copy a DVD9 movie. My computer has Intel Pentinum processor 1.7GHz and 512MB RAM.

Here is the software link: http://www.aoadvdcopy.com

don9012, its not all about the software you use ,most readers read at 16x max. so the software isnt going to matter as much as a good reader and a good machine that what is most important then the software some programs read faster than others yes but i use clonedvd 2 with anydvd and convert a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 in about 20 to 25 minutes longer movies are about 28 to 29 minutes and shorter movies are about 11 to 12 minutes ,thats burning at 8x speed

Try installing some ASPI drivers, http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm
Chances are it will bring it back to 15 minutes for a straight DVD Decrypter dump, and maybe 45 minutes to do a deep analysis and copy using DVD Shrink.

Speed often kills! With current DVD technologies it is often wiser to be conservative. A good systen can rip and burn a DVD in 30 minutes or less - not too bad. Patience can be a virtue.

hey colw 30mins isnt that great a time, people these dats want it done as quick as possible and cant wait.Remember when it used to take 20 or so hours to encode and then another hour or so to burn..........................those were the fun days just sitting and watching the screen

Most people are probably interested in the most error free rippers instead of the fastest. Who cares how fast one can produce "coasters"????

thanks for your replies. I dont know how all you can rip a move so fast..

Cathll, you can do a commercial DVD in 15 -20 min?
aabbccdd, you say: " i use CloneDVD 2 with AnyDVD and convert a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 in about 20 to 25 minutes longer movies are about 28 to 29 minutes and shorter movies are about 11 to 12 minutes ,thats burning at 8x speed
"
wow!

Using AnyDVD, it took 45 minutes to get the whole DVD on the Hard drive. From there, I used DVD Rebuilder with QuEnc encoder to encode the file and put on a blank DVD R. This took 4 HOURS. How is it that I need about 5 hours total to do what you can do in less than 1/2 an hour?

By the way, my computer: 3GB AMD Athlon 64 3000+, with 1 GB RAM
it's not an especially slow machine!

sorry, I made a mistake in my last post. What i meant to ask is why you (aabbccdd) can rip a DVD (using the same program as I -AnyDVD) and burn it, all in a shorter time than it takes me to rip only?

How is the picture quality on copies made with CloneDVD 2?

don your machine is fine spec wize ,reason being is i dont use DVD Rebuilder with QuEnc encoder i just use clonedvd 2 with anydvd and boom iam done.keep in mind i just do the movie only also. the quality is excellent BTW try the 21 day free trial and see for yourself.

make sure your reader is up to par(updating your firmware) and is in DMA mode not PIO mode will help your time .sometimes when reader get older they slow down i had this happen a couple weeks ago burning on the fly with nero i noticed that my buffer rate was really slow and my burner would actually stop so i replace it and working fine now

oh I see. You use cloneDVD2 to make the files go directly from the source disc to the blank one. I actually just did that, using the trial version of clonedvd2, and the DVD was copied in 26 minutes.

I think we are in the same boat after all; if you were to select "Rip Video-DVD to Hard Disk" when you right click on the AnyDVD icon in the lower right of the screen, I'm sure it would take 45 min. to get the files on your harddrive too.

thanks, I'm glad you could clear this up for me!
(btw, my DVD rebuilder and QuEnc days are over! 5 hours is just not worth it!)

there great programs but just not worth the time to me , on most backups you wont be able to tell just using CloneDVD 2 as an encoder with AnyDVD i have a large screen TV and cant tell ther difference between the orignal and the backup using Taiyo Yuden media of course. also i find it faster just to use DVD Decrypter (ISO read) to get the dvd to your harddrive AFTER you make a backup with CloneDVD 2

@aabbccdd. does CloneDVD work with ISO files? i didn't know that.i knew it produces ISO.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

don9012, yes, 15-20 minutes not including burning. Normaly, it takes about 8-15 mins to burn a 4.7GB dvd and much longer (sometimes over 30 mins) to burn a 8.7GB dvd. If copying a DVD9 to a DVD5, it may take over 1 hour because there is a shrink process.

I don't have a powerful delux system. I have a 2.66/80g hd/256mr and even I with DvdDecrypter and AnyDvd can put a 8.2 movie on my hd in 15/22 min. Burn at 4x on d/l disc about 24 min. I will use a single L disc only when % is 80 or better.

With DvdD no longer being updated, thats where AnyDvd comes in. It handles all the latest protections while remaining in the background. Decrypter does the work AnyDvd gets the credit. It also works great with Shrink for putting on a single layer. Slysoft also updates frequently when new movies(protections) are released.
