ok, i just got Emule yesterday because everybody on this site says that emule is the way to go with p2p. i downloaded it, connected to a server, but when i download a file, it always says waiting in the status bar!!! i tried the wizard under connections in the preferences but that didnt help me at all!! what am i doing wrong??
P.S. when it does download, it downloads incredibly slow but when i down load with kazaa i can normally get around 50 kbs but i can only get like 5 with emule once i finally get it downloading!! HELP
let me explain, eMule uses queues so when downloading you are on a lot of peoples queues, you have to wait your turn, not only that but are you downloading files that you just search for using eMule or are you going to sites that index ed2k files?? because if you are just searching, you are not using eMule right!
thanx dela, i found that out but i also found out that i have a low id because my port 4662 is either blocked or firewalled or something(says the emule website), do you know how to free that port up, or if there is any other ports that i can use, i am very new to this!!
Well I mean there are a couple of obvious ones that maybe you could use like 21 which is ftp so if anything is blocking your emule it would probably have 21 workin grand!!
Direct connect is ok until you're half way through something and the person you are downloading from leaves!
DC and The Donkey Network are the best there is.
As for the waiting message, that may be because of a few things like the number of sources who have the file! also even if a lot have it, a lot more might be trying to get it!
