I hope that someone can help me with this problem I'm having.I have DVD Shrink and I was trying to back up my DVD's.Once I did all the formalities to doing it and I clicked"Backup",DVD shrink freezes!!! Why?

The problem with DVDshrink is that it's no longer updated so it's going to have problems with newer movie releases that have Sony or Microvision copy protection on them. If shrink encounters this new copy protection it will produce/display errors or lockup/freeze-up, this can usually be overcome by using DVDFab decrypter first to rip the files to your HDD with, then use DVD shrink to open the files, at that point you can use shrink as you normally would.

I just did the movie A History of Violence with DVDFAB and then I went to shrink and it froze up again

You probably need to use VobBlanker between DVDFAB Decrypter and Shrink as if there is a structural problem VobBlanker can correct it

Are you trying to backup the whole movie or just the main title (ie. are you re-authoring)?

Sometimes you can get around this by re-authoring to backup just the main title.

Sometimes using DVDdecrypter in ISO read mode to rip, then opening the image with shrink in reauthor mode will do the trick.

If all else fails, vobblanker might be the answer.
