I am new to eMule and I installed it yesterday. The program seems to be quite good but I am having a few problems.
First of all, My speed for my download is going at 15kb/s. This is poor for me because I have a 512 cable modem and on kazaa I get speeds of up to 70kb/s. I have changed all of the settings I should according to the Little eMule Tutorial on this Forum but I still get a low speed. What can I do to make it faster?
Secondly, about every 15 minutes or so an error message comes up saying, "An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end". This becomes very annoying because as I am using my computer, eg Watching a film, an error message comes up in the middle of the screen. What can I do to stop this message from coming up.
First of all my English is too bad, but i´ll try to explain you where i find the solution of the problem of the Emule: "An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end
". I search this problem in the oficial web page of Emule and they say this:
---------------------------------------------
An attempt was made to access an unnamed file past its end:
This message pop up is caused by invalid packets from servers or other clients. This message does not affect eMule's operation and is properly handled in the versions .28a+
-------------------------------------------
I think you may install the 28a version to solve this problem.
About the other problem(speed on Emule), I have
the 27c version and it downloads quite fast(my record is near 600 Mb in 2 days). All depends in how many fonts can your Operative System support. If your OS is W98 you can download from 100 max.(person=fonts) and if you have for example W2000 or Windows XP you can download from 200 max., here is the difference. If you can download from more people, you can download the file faster than the person who has less fonts. Try to use the assistent in Preferences and you will probaly solve this.
For speed problems, visit here: http://koti.mbnet.fi/pasi66 and select support/english there are some instructions how Edonkey's/Emule's download speed maybe can raised, it depends...
