So is this a swap magic disc that has action replay built in with it? Or do you have to have any old Action Replay Max disc and this new swap magic 3.8 disc?

That is correct, Swap Magic Coder 3.8 does not use AR Max style codes. My question is though, can you use it together with AR Max to boot backup games with cheats?

When it says all versions of the PS2, does it really mean ALL versions?
I just want to make sure before I buy.
I have a slim 77001 I think...

Quote: 4. Launch program from memory card.
5. Launch program from USB devices.
Two questions.
Can I use this disc to load HDLoader from USB pen drive?
If I'm loading programs from a USB device do I even need a slide card or will the disc work by itself? Given that I don't see a reason why you'd need to remove the disc to load programs from USB device.
Does that go for the Swap Magic 3.6 Plus as well?
Thanks.

You could use it to load hdloader, i could never find much info on loading through USB but yes you can. I think SM 3.6 can boot off USB as well.

Will I even need a slide card (or fliptop, etc.) if I'm just using Swap Magic to boot from USB devices?

No fliptop or slidecard will be needed, but most likely it will come with one if you ever needed it...

Kamahl,
It should work for all versions. Make sure you ask for the Magic Keys and not the Slide Tool though.
It doesn't seem to work when using it together with the Action Replay Max disc though...This is my problem here:

Can anyone explain to me how to boot directly from USB to HDLoader using only the Swap Magic V3.6 discs without slide card? Thanks.

Nevermind I took care of it.
Quick overview:
began with:
USB://SWAPMAGIC/SWAPMAGIC.elf and it worked (only after formatting the USB drive with the label SWAPMAGIC as well)
Then I used uLaunchElf to dump multiple elf programs into a folder on my 64mb MC. Renamed uLaunchElf SWAPMAGIC.elf and put that in a SWAPMAGIC folder on MC, so the Swap magic disc would autoboot to uLaunchElf from MC. Created shortcuts for other importants elfs through uLaunchElf (HDLoader included), and then loaded a custom skin as a final touch. The games play great without a hitch (all except Marvel vs. Capcom 2), and the custom programs work great.

Doesn't appear that Swap Magic 3.8 plays all import games.
I have found out the hard way. Purchased an original game (MLB 2k6 - NTSC) for my PAL ps2. The game doesn't work with Swap Magic 3.8. Very disappointed in Swap Magic. Get your ps2 fitted with a mod chip if you want it to play imports...

Rittings,
Have you tried using it with either DVDLoader or ZoneLoader?
