Can I rip a DVD and save it on the hard disk - as a copy ?
So that I can burn from the hard disk copy to a DVD-R in the future when I need it.
Can DVDXCopy do that ? Or use other software ?
Please comment.

Yes. Dvdxcopy creates a temporary file that holds the dvd contents. Usually you would burn these files to a blank dvd immediately, then DXC would erase them. If you want to save them on your hard drive, simply move (or copy) them to another directory. It seems rather wasteful of HD space to do this when blank discs are available for less that $1, but it can be done.

Thanks.
But how can I use the DVDXCopy to burn
from the "temp" file to the DVD-R directly ?
You know, everytime I start the DVDXCopy,
it always asks to insert a DVD before it
will proceed.

I have DVD X Copy also, and I have a DVR-105 drive. I also have a Samsung CD-RW drive. After every time I rip a movie to a directory, DVD X Copy will ask me if i want to burn the first disc. I will always have to take out the DVD from the DVR-105 and put in a DVD-R. But for some reason, the drive will never show up that I put the DVD-R in. I think this is beause the system thinks that the real DVD movie is still in the drive. I am wondering if I will need to get a DVD-ROM to replace the CD-RW so that the DVD-ROM can read the DVD, so that I can write with the DVR-105, or if i can copy them to the directory, and then go back and burn them to a DVD-R afterwards. I have tried this with Nero with no success. I am wondering if there is another program that I can use for this. If anyone can comment, a response would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot answer the question directly. I have never attempted to do what you seek to do. However, I believe you should be able to burn the saved files with something like Nero. This is getting away from the DXC subject area. Perhaps someone else has a thought on the subject or you can try one of the other Afterdawn discussion areas.

Well, I have tried but fail to use Nero.
It seems that Nero cannot read the "temp"
file created by DVDXCopy.
That's the reason why I post the question.

I use DVD X-Copy and Nero to burn DVDs... I tell DVD X-Copy that the blank DVD is not ready and when it has finished ripping (but before proceeding with burning) I rename the temporary directory it created...

Then using Nero (I actually use the little side-app called Nero Express which is the wizard interface cause I'm lazy) I say I want to burn a DVD... I then go and select the Audio & Video dirs that X-Copy created and bang - I have a working copy!
