DVD Shrink error

Hi,

For some reason DVD Shrink isn't working for me anymore. I get a 'Burn Error', and asks me to use another program to burn the files.
I could do that, but I'd prefer DVD Shrink to do the whole thing, like it used to (I'm trying to back-up some DVD movies).

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'll also add, since it may help, that CloneDVD also gives me a burn error, I have to save the file as an ISO and then burn with DVD Decryptor. I don't have the log from CloneDVD (is there one?), but I'll try to back-up a DVD now with it and if it gives a log I'll post it in case you guys need it.

I know I *could* use CloneDVD, but DVD Shrink seems to produce much better quality copies. I also couldn't play the back-ups I made with CloneDVD on my PS2, the ones I've made with DVD Shrink in the past have all worked flawlessly (I also always use good quality Verbatim media).

It looks like your burner does not recognize the media you are using. That might be because your firmware is old:

Also turn the "DVD high compatibility mode" feature off. You don't need to use it.

Your Nero version is also old. Should update to 6.6.0.18:

I followed that tutorial of alkohol's but it said my dma was on.

I'm just about to update the drive's firmware and Nero.
Will report back.

The log says the DMA was off for your Nec burner. I would uninstall the drive and then reboot the computer, Windows should reinstall it properly.

I'll give it a shot.

I updated the firmware to 10GE, when it reinstalls my drive will it install the updated firmware?

And how do I turn off the DVD high compatibility mode?

Yes, if you follow the guide and uninstall the drive and reboot,to turn DMA on, that will not affect your firmware.

Open Nero Burning Rom, and click "Choose Recorder":

Then:

On the next window that opens, you will see the "High Compatibility Mode" option. Un tick it.
