I've been burning movies with DVD Shrink and Nero for months now with an average of about 30 mins from start to finish. All of a sudden, it's taking 2-3 hours from start to finish. I looked at the performance and I'm using 100% CPU usage while backing up with DVD shrink. I have no other programs running, and I haven't downloaded any new programs, and the PC is only 3 months old. Any suggestions??

Viruses? Maybe spyware running a background utility. Try downloading Spybot or adware 6

Check and make sure DMA mode has been enabled for all of the drives (ie..hard drive, burners)

here's a guide if needed:
http://www.onthegosoft.com/dma_setting_nt.htm

Make sure shrink isn't set to run in low priority mode.
Make sure your not running low on HDD space.
Defragment the drive.
Run a spyware scan (as suggested by pntyliner).

Try uninstalling shrink, then reinstall. Just to make sure you're running the current version, you can get it here;

Note: Check the AEC quality settings in Shrink, as that can add more time, if shrink shows a compression level of less than 100%, then the AEC quality settings will kick in and shrink will take longer to analyze and encode the movie. This is normal if you're using the AEC quality settings, to make sure video quality is the best it can be.
