I dont know if its because I use Pal or backup movie only but I have backed up flight plan and the cave using dvd43 ver 3.5.3.113 and dvdshrink not using anydvd, vobblanker or dvdfab decrypter and both backed up and played perfectly is the sony copy protection in the menus ?
or is it just that my faithfull old dvd43 deals with this protection ?

Maybe it is because copy protections have become too sophisticated and they have dropped the basic protections. They all take up space on the disc.

The use of older versions of programs for making back-ups of newer movies has been alluded to lately. Been chided for not using the latest & advocating for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality.

Then I think we have to figure into the equation, DRM firmware in newer hardware & Software (OS, discs & such) that have DRM imbedded in them. Sony's root case comes to mind.

Just a few thoughts.
