Just starting having this problem, I am running the analysis on the DVD shrink and part way through, my computer shuts down. Thought this was due to trying to back up a new (2005) movie. I tried an older one got same thing, nothing has changed or been updated, can anyone help?

Check your fans and make sure they are all running, dust them off. Your computer might be overheating. When you backup movies, encoding is very CPU demanding. A broken fan was the reason my computer was shutting down during DVD backup.

It could also be protection on the disc,
i would try running Anydvd in the background.
(free 21 day trial so no harm no foul),

I thought about protection, but then he said it did the same with an older movie. My personal experience was with a broken fan. before it completely quit, for a couple of days was making some strange noises.
If you did not add any other software, no updates, anything since you successfully backed up the last DVD, I would check the cables, make sure they are well connected, power supply and fans. Even if they are not burned out, try dust them off.
That would be the first and easyest fix I would try.
You could also try reinstalling DVD Shrink.
