Hello, i have dvd shrink 3.2. I used dvd decrypter to rip chronicles of narnia on to my hard drive, but it is too big to burn so im trying to use dvd shrink to re-author it and make it smaller. When i try to "open file" from my hard drive it gives me a error message saying "invalid data in the directory...."

Any ideas on what i can do, i really need to burn this movie today?

Thanks

euro2069 ,
Below is a site w/ at least 7 pages you can read on how to do the movie if a search feature had been utilized
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/321539

Quick synopsis
Use DVDFAB Decrypter to rip to HD. Then use VobBlanker to correct the structure problems and then use Shrink to process.

You can also use the newest version of AnyDVD along w/ Shrink. Just right click the Fox's head in the taskbar and use the rip to HD option. Then use Shrink

Creaky
Since I told him how to do it can you just close this one

I just joined this forum, and I gather that most of you are sick and tired of the questions concerning the copying of Narnia. Here is the last response that I read from this forum.....
"

My quick question is....Can I use DVD Decrypter instead of the DVDFAB to rip to HD. If I do that, do I set up the DVD Decrypter in in special way? Finally, how do I actually use VOBBlaster to "correct the structure problems"? I plan on downloading VABBlaster tonight and giving it a go. Sorry about all these questions, I tried to find the answers searching the previous discussions. Being a newbie can be difficult. Have patience with us.
Thank you

For this movie you can use DVD Decrypter but you must use it in iso read mode, then you can open Shrink in reauthor mode and choose to do movie only. You can also rip in file mode and then use VobBlanker it is just three steps

Thank You, THank you, Thank you.....
After days of trying to copy the movie (Narnia), I downloaded VobBlanker and used your system. It worked the first time.
Thanks a million

@cervino or those that needed helps in regards to VobBlanker

Yes, you can simply use that method (process the VIDEO_TS.IFO through VobBlanker) for any future dvds/movies.

If you still want to go with the FREE method/route, then I highly recommend you follow and get the following FREE tools.

(1) DVDFAB Decrypter - rip the movie into your hard drive first
(2) VobBlanker - process the VIDEO_TS.IFO file for security purpose (it will fix any invalid structural or fake dummy cells)
(3) DVD Shrink - transcode as usual
(4) DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn - to burn (ISO Image only)

NOTE: when you get to step #2 or VobBlanker, do as the following steps:

(A) INPUT = browse/locate your already ripped VIDEO_TS.IFO file from hard drive

(B) OUTPUT = create another VIDEO_TS folder in your hard drive (Example: if HOSTEL is the movie you're trying to rip and process, then make a new folder name VOB_HOSTEL and a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside VOB_HOSTEL, so it should be: VOB_HOSTEL\VIDEO_TS for the OUTPUT.)

(C) click "PROC.ALL" at the RIGHT
(D) click "PROCESS" at the bottom

Now sit tight, relax, wait until VobBlanker is successfully completed. Once VobBlanker is done, it should created a newly/fresh file or folder into VOB_HOSTEL\VIDEO_TS. Just load/import this VIDEO_TS file into DVD Shrink and continue on with your usual transcoding process.

That's it.... it's all FREE and easy as sippin' on a Corona. Best of lucks to you and happy burning. Now-a-days, I highly recommend you rip, process and backup with this "simple/basic guide" and I GUARANTEE YOU 100% that you'll be able to successfully rip and backup any movies/dvds, regardless if it's encrypted with ARccOS or RipGuard.

NOTE: I recommend you TURN OFF DVD43, AnyDVD or other cracking engines that's running in the background, if you're "ripping" any movie(s) with DVDFAB Decrypter (the latest) -- the same thing apply to VobBlanker, when you're "processing" the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file through VobBlanker. This way, it won't trigger or cause any errors in results.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

For those that have AnyDVD then use it in the background with Shrink, but there are those who do not. These methods are for those posters who want to use the free programs, which still work.
