I have purchased Any DVD on recommendations from this forum and find it a much faster and bettter method of copying than using DVD Shrink then running the results through VOB Blanker. VOB Blanker inevitably produces one stall per film.
Any DVD implies it will remove previews and FBI warnings. It is one one of the menus. I have the appropriate boxes checked, but everything on the disc remains and is copied. Any DVD does move all the previews to menu access only, but they are still there and the FBI warning is still there, often before the movie itself. Am I doing somewthing wrong?

AnyDVD does remove the stuff if you are using clone DVD. Clone DVD is another of Slysofts programs. However, you do not need that program to make perfect copies.
Since you are familiar with VOB Blanker, use the feature within that program to remove unwanted material. Basically, AnyDVD breaks the code from the DVD so that other programs can run it.
For example I have AnyDVD running when I open shrink. Normally I would not be able to shrink this movie without getting rid of the protection first. After I shrink the movie then I run it through FabDecrypter express. Then I burn.
If I want to remove items within the DVD in order to achieve 100% on my Shrink I use PgcEdit.

I thought Any DVD was suppose to start automatically. Evidently it isn't working for me. I'm not by any means a genius. So, if anyone can tell me how it's suppose to work and what screens I should see, it would be much appreciated. I'm trying to copy Geisha. Also, how does IMGBURN work ?? Is it worth having ?? Thanks.

First if you want to use ImgBurn you will to download another tool called ImgTool. You only need these tools if you do not have Nero 6 or higher.
?Memoirs of a Geisha? and how I did it.
AnyDVD is always running, as long as you have the little fox in the task bar you are ready. Put in The movie. Open DVD Shrink and shrink it to as close to 100% as possible. Then open DVDFab Decrypter Express and Decrypt the file you just shrank. Then burn the image.
Make sure that you have the latest downloads of both AnyDVD and DVDFab Express and you should have no problem. If you do not have Nero, then download the ImgTool so that you can burn with ImgBurn. I had no problem with Geisha and if you tell me what the other film title is I may have made a backup of it also.
IF: Shrink will not open the file then right click AnyDVD and exit it. Then run the movie from the disk through DVDFab. Following open DVD Shrink and Shrink the Decrypted file. If you have any problems let me know and I will get screen shots for you.
Good luck!

One more thing about AnyDVD. Double click the icon and unter the tab Program, make sure the following is checked.
Enable AnyDVD
Auto start
Automatically check for new AnyDVD Version
Show information window for new media.
The information window will tell you what AnyDVD is blocking. It is good information to know.

If it's a larg movie you'll have to send it through shrink first...
so it fits on a single layer disk.

I have used shrink before and never got this message before. I am trying to back up my 2004 World Series DVD's.

On Shrink the size showing up is 4,527 on Reauthor which is a compression rate of 57.8%. This is confusing to me because I've never had a probelm with shrink before.

If you have Nero 6 or up then make sure you are in DVD mode and tell it to copy Movie to DVD then Import the movie. Make sure to set the burn speed to 4x. Burning fast causes errors.
If you don't have Nero then I would suggest downloading ImgTool & ImgBurn. Both are free and work well.

What is basically the best combo of programs needed for backing up. I have used DVD Shrink and DVD Dcrypt for about a year now, but some movies are giving me a lot of trouble, is it time to evolve in my backing up process?

With AnyDVD and Shrink being used first, why do you then run it thru DVD Fab Express, the encryption was removed right after you put the DVD in your drive. All you have to do is set Shrink, after recoding, to burn automatically with Nero, completely eliminating the unnecessary Fab Expresss step.

I have learned through trial and error that even though AnyDVD gets rid of the initial problems so that I may shrink it right away; sometimes when I burn there are some skips or errors that got through. It takes about 10 min. to run it through DVDFab, then when I burn my copy comes out clear as a bell. Granted that it doesn't happen on all movies, but 10 min. is not a long wait. I always run it through Fab before I burn.
Hope that answered your question. Good burning!

Yeah, sometimes evolving is the best. DVD Decrypter is a great program however, it is no longer updated. Get a copy of DVDFab Express. DVDFab is free. You don't have to have the Pro version. It is updated regularly. Now on some movies (Sony) you may need another program to get through the Accross encryption. I would suggest AnyDVD however it is not free. You can get PgcEdit or VobBlanker for free to help you through the tougher ones.
