when I open a disk w/ Shrink it takes between 5-6 mins. to analyze the movie (everyone I have done) the backup phase takes about 7-8 mins (avg.) it burns in about 7-8 mins, any ideas? The reason I'm asking is my girlfriends computer only takes about 1 min. Thanks in advance.

Yes, it is true that DVD Shrink should "not" take any longer than 1 minute to do a quick analysis in prior to the actual "transcoding" process.

What are your computer specs? Is your drive's DMA on PIO or Not Applicable Mode? How many time/s did you defrag your hard drive per week? Did you clean out all your temp or cookies files daily? Are you multi-tasking when DVD Shrink is analyzing?

If your dvd-rom or burner's drive is on PIO Mode, then have a look at this simple guide http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues and see if that will resolve your problem.

Good luck and happy burning.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Let's see, ~1GHz CPU and 512MB RAM... Seems about right to me. Shrink is a Very CPU intensive app and the more horsepower you have to give it, the better it performs.

Antec TX1050B Case w/500W Power Supply
ASUS P4P800SE
Intel P4 HT 3.2 OC'd 3.85
Zalman CNPS9500 Heatsink/CPU Fan
4GB PC3200 Dual Channel DDR RAM
Nvidia 6800 OC'd
500GB SATA Raid 0
Lite-On 832 DVD
HP 740b DVD

@rab48124

The initial analysis in Shrink will take about a minute, and is done when you open your file/disk. If you have advanced analysis checked in your preferences this will take longer and would give you the 7 to 8 minute time, and be done prior to your encode.
