on gizmodo today, we found out that the the wii will filter all porn and will not be able to download anything as well
i just want to ask, how many people here use opera to download porn

My apologies, creaky.
Still though, who cares? back when I was in hich school, I still didn't care about the "websense" filters. I'm guessing middle school aged kids and below would be the only ones sincerely upset at this type of thing...
And even when I was in middle school, I still didn't use video games as means of getting off...
this thread is rediculous.

With the controversy that arose from the GTA Hot Coffee mod to the more recent Oblivion modification, imagine the outcry some would make if a game console allowed direct access to porn. Some retailers (read Wal Mart) might refuse to stock it, hurting Nintendo's bottom line. Never mind that you can browse porn all day long on a computer or cell phone with a browser, or that anyone with enough technical savvy to apply the hot coffee mod could easily disable google's safe image search. The fact is that people still associate video games with children even though the majority of players these days are adults, and if a console was internet enabled without some kind of parental control or filtering capabilities there would be repercussions from several groups.
It's also interesting to note that one of the few risque games that was on the last generation of consoles, BMX XXX, it was Sony that had the toned down version, not Nintendo.

yeah this is stupid.Everybody knows that nintendo targets kids while ms and sony target us older(and kids) gamers.So why the heck would they do something as stupid as porn on there console.Don't get me wrong porn rocks and It would be cool, but It's not going to make me purchase a ps3 or 360,but what the ps3 and 360 have in features and power will...

Nothing in that article says that Nintendo has confirmed the filter. On the contrary, Gizmodo asks the question, assuming the inherent problem that, in fact, many children will be using the Wii.
