Ok so what do we know.... whats the outputs on the 500$ version?
What about the chitset I have heard rumors of it haveing a "lesser" chipset 0_o
Is the bluetooth handicaped to?
As far as regoining goes are the games regoined I found info on movies not beign regoined.....
So high def moives are protected from running on non high def palyers...that my friends is the BS knowen as hollywood
Why are they even bothering pulling this lesser crap god this makes the 360 look almsot perfect 0_o (if MS was not pushing faulty hardware I would like MS more *L*)

Are you speaking of the cpu or gpu or perhaps the mother board?Either way they will all have the same one.
Let me just say also that...Region not many know about and hi-def dvd's will be able to run on non hi-def players.;/

Any chipset on the board,I hear it was getting a lower spec one sicne it dosent have HDMI on it its good to know there not that crazy,the low end still has 4 USB and basic enough wireless to run the pads?
will the High end version have AV multi out as well or just HDMI?
Yes but HDCP will amke sure no one will be able to watch saidmoive on a non High output DVD player :P

$600 will have both analog and HDMI.
$500 is not going to have any inferior specs other than the mentioned exclutions like wifi hdmi and the hdd size difference.

yeah the card reader sry.
But a sony exec said that you'll be able to use a usb card reader.
In therory you should be able to use a usb device for wifi access as well. The hdd should still be removable. Who know someone might come up with a way of making it out put high def. In any case it upgradeable to some extent. However all that stuff would run you more than $100 anyway.

Ok so the guts are not going to change any thats good,but might cripple the BRpalyer in the long run with out HDMI,the wi fi and card reader are minor annoyances

the low end version is so messed up once HDCP kicks in in 2 years you wont be able to run BR movies on it becuse they will only run on digital 1080 anything else it wont run on.
On a gameing stand point the Low end one dosent have HDMI whitch is not a big deal you need a fancy TV for it anyway.
But for movies its crippled 0_o
the only reason I cna think they did this is becuse they can easily make consuoles in china and dont have to think abotu what thier makeing 0-o

Really wtf?Look, you will be able to play regular dvd's on a Blu-ray.It will still just be a regular dvd though not hd.As far as Blu-ray playing on a Blu-ray player in 3 years ehhhhh... hello that's yes they will be able and that's what it's for.Besides the first year you won't see much Blu-ray content.
I did make a mistake saying Blu-ray disc's would be able to run on regular dvd players though.
The only thing the $499 one deosn't have is hdmi,an extra 40gb of hdd space,the mem card reader,and a few more usb ports.All Of this can be later upgraded with the exception of the hdmi(but maybe an adapter).

You do relize that without HDMI you cant run locked out HDCP moives?
SO what I am sayign is when HDCP is in heavy use on the 2nd or 3rd generation of BR moives they will most likely not work on the low end PS3

hdmi isn't the only way to an hd output.The hd componant jacks will still be there right?and with various adapters out there you can probably use one if you don't have hd componat jacks on your tv.

I aggree though that no hdmi is a problem.We have all said that on these forums a thousand times, but I'm not getting a low end one anyways and I don't think many should.

I know what hdcp is.People mis understand the technology.Hdcp movies will still be able to play on dvd player without hdmi.The resolution is chopped slightly but It will play.Hdcp developer folks have already discussed this limitation and are working to fix it.Oh yeah hdcp isn't even out yet and won't be a standard for some years.

Here is a link and as you can see they will play but with a lower resolution.Like I said.They are also in the midst of updating the spec to deal with this problem.

But what i'm saying is that they will play.I sure hope you didn't think sony was gonna spend all that doe for a blu-ray drive that didn't play blu-ray discs.

HDCP will halve more or less the res right not cut it off altogather,I said HDCP will be comeing in 2-3 years
SO let me get this right so I cna burn it into my skull,the low end PS3 is also a low end BR palyer it will handle any BR moive theymake jsut the output will not be "HD"

Correct. The movie won't be cut off completely or black screened it will just be 540p and not 720p which although is not hd it's still higher than sdtv.But like I said hdcp community are working on that and hollywood says that they will wait to give everyone a chance to get the new standard(hdmi) which will take years.See the first hdtv's didn't have hdmi or dvi.
It's the same Blu-ray drive in both the $499 and $599 but ps3 core one doesn't have hdmi.

Lets see there are no normal DVI interfaces on the PS3s right? just analog and HDMI?

well that's what Im wondering too if the componant(av)out will be the hd kind or just analog.And also the adapter thing too.Also If the the av is the hd kind would hdcp play it as such or treat it like analog lol.
