You must be a complete idiot if you already almost killed yourself and STILL come here asking how to make a bigger explosion...
Try opening up the gas main in your house, then after 20 minutes, light a match... that ought to give you a nice big bang...

well it wasnt really an explosion but i was over at my brothers place (small 50 square metre cottage just away from my house) and we were playing round with some recipe from the "Anarchists Cookbook", which isnt recomemded (not very accurate) and he was doing something with on his stove. It blew up and the whole building nearly caught on fire, 2 of his mates got serious as burns and most of the wall got burnt,he still hasnt got all the black off the ceiling.
But DAMN was it awesome.
Why is it man has such a craving for explosions?

Making and detonating pipe bombs was a favorite pastime in my high school days.

Ingredients:

1- empty 2 liter pop bottle. Clean and with the cap
1-Bottle of The Works toilet bowl cleaner-or any other brand that has hydrochloric acid
6-8 aluminum foil balls-just big enough to squeeze through the top of bottle.

Insert those aluminum foil balls into the bottle, squeeze enough toilet bowl cleaner in for about 1/4 inch full from bottom. Tighten cap. Shake vigorously for 8-10 seconds. Set where desired. 40 seconds or so later-boom!!!!!!!!

Kids use to blow up plastic mail boxes with these home made bombs. Pretty neat when you set them off at night. That bottle expands to about 2-3 times it's original size and boom!

We filled a 55gal.plastic drum with oxygen/acetylene mixture and used a homemade electric fuse. Now thats an EXPLOSION!!
We did this in an empty parking lot at work, the percussion set off car alarms 2 blocks away and blew the dust off the rafters in the building more than 150ft away!We were hiding behind a dumpster about 100 ft. away. We never did find the remains of that drum!

A guy I work with had a neighbor girl showing him her science experiment. Then he showed her his 2 liter pop bottle bomb, set it off and boy did the cops arrive. This was weeks after 9-11. He got a big fine and community service. LOL

Anybody see cheaper by the dozen 2? The bag of fireworks caught fire, got thrown in the lake, landed in a rubber raft with a honda outboard and that motor shot up like a rocket. LMAO on that part of the flick.

How about potato guns? Every now and then someone gets killed using one of them, and too much hairspray. Those are a blast at a party, but the law is coming down on them bigtime.

A year or so ago, me and my mates would do really dumb things for entertainment. One night, about 15 of us decided to camp out in the woods.. no tents, no nothing, just a mahussive camp fire.

At about 2am, we were just singing random songs and drinking what very little alcohol we had, and decided to make an explosion. A total of around 5 deodorant cans and a can of hairspray (yes, one dumb girl decided to hang around in the woods with 15 15/16 year olds, *shakes head*). Was quite a loud explosion, and gave us all a buzz.

It's sad really. But though it's becoming rather cliche, there really is nothing to do around my area, hence all the anti social behavior and chavism.

I'll stick with making my own fireworks.

@ Andrew691 : saying the anarchist cookbook is "inacurate" is an understatement.
Other than the smokebombs that are described in the original (keep far away from ALL downloadable versions, since they are all fake and even more dangerous than the bullsh*t original), most "recipes" are a sure fire way to get yourself killed.

For example, the recipe for nitroglycerine (which isn't the recipe for Nitroglycerine, but actually the recipe for one of the most unstable nitric esters, nitrogen triiodide)described in that book has cost the lives of numerous teens that where stupid enough to try it.

This substance is so volatile that once it dries up it self detonates by the slightest touch.
So, in closing, don't mess with explosives!

(Exceptions are made here for Darthnip and me, since i'm learning chemistry and pyrotechnics, and darth because he's a professional demolitionist) :D

Back years ago when I was a younger guy and worked for GE, we had tons of small cans of refrigerant gas we used all the time. They didn't inventory it too well so there was always extra for anyone that wanted it. Those make good targets for a 357mag or 9mm hand gun. You always know when it hit the mark. Then for added excitement when out camping or fishing, you could always throw one in the fire and run like hell. The problem was you never knew which way it would fly.

So Atomic Annie doesn't count Jerry? Or did they not let you test the shells you made?

one of my favorite explosions to make are sparkler bombs. they make a pretty big bang. another good one is acetylene in a garbage bag. you also got you tennis ball bombs, pipe bombs, cremora fireballs (not really an explosion but fun to watch a giant fireball go about 50 feet high), and if you just want fire homebrew napalm. yeah needless to say im a pyromaniac.

@the feind i'll be going to college for the same thing. how are the courses?

sig made by me, i think.

@ireland i had me one like that in me backyard once, parents werent to happy wiht me.

ive always wanted to get my hands on a grenade or a whole roll of detcord. but preferably the detcord, i could have more fun with it. plus i could make my own grenade if i wanted, wouldnt be that hard really, but also not as fun as the detcord.

@lecsiy the easiest thing to do is use a big thing of draino, makes a pretty nice boom. or you could always just do like me and just fill random things with gunpowder and watch them blow up. heck you dont even need regular gunpowder really, just scrap the powder out of any thing you would buy at a fireworks stand and pack it, light it, and run.

sig made by me, i think.

@Nephilim, I thought they wanted like home made stuff. I got to test fire ONE atomic warhead my team assembled. That was enough to scare the heck out of anyone. Not something you want to build at home LOL.
