To get the best experience HDTV is recommended, but not a requirement.You will still enjoy ps3 without hd of coarse.

BUT in around 2008, all cable tv providers WILL switch the standard to HDTV to reduce costs on their side. You can still use your normal Non HD tv but this is something people should be thinking about now, buy and HDTV now because in about 2 years, you'll be complaining about it.

i guess it depends on your opinion but i bought a 15 inch HDTV for $300 american, and it is really nice for gameing because it's like a computer. i tried playing my x360 on my 60in. sdtv and the game looked kind of wierd the gun was VERY long. so just get a small HDTV.

kainx: That's not even true.The date is being revised for one and for two the specification is digital not hdtv.Digital meaning not analog.
They aint making hdtv the standard until after the ps3 is long dead.Let's face it only local channels,pay channels,and a very few others are in hd.Now it's half way into 2006 and your talking about a 2008 mandate.Nope.
It's for cable box's being digital and not analog.See if cable companies don't carry analog boxes then the networks feel they shouldn't have to provide for them.Unfortunately folks in the ghetto who don't have cable or and a digital ready tv will suffer(like hurricane warning's for instance) which is why the fcc want's to lengthen the date.:o

on march 1, 2007 all 13" tv sets will have to be digital(why not hd)
in the year 2009 all analog tv broadcasts will be shut off
