dvd shrink crashes after roughly 10% burn

Hello All--

Have had and used DVD shrink for a while now and after a reinstall of windows XP I cannot get the software to burn a copy of my purchased DVDs. I formatted the hard drive and started from scratch. Could not get it to work - so updated to nero 7 -- now I get the following for a log -- best I can make out is there seems to be a conflict between nero versions but I have already tried the nero clean tools... Any thoughts ?

Your burner is in PIO Mode. Go to device manager and right click that burner and uninstall it. Then re-boot and let Windows re-install the burner properly.

Burner does not like the blank media you are using. Try Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden blank media

A quick look of your log shows......

Here, your burner info shows that its firmware is way behind at version B370. To increase media compatibility and enhance the burner's performance you should update to the latest version B377.

Unzip the file and run it, follow the install instructions given.

2)CdRomPeripheral : NU DVDRW DDW-082 atapi Port 3 ID 1 DMA: Off

Here, your burner's not shown to be set for DMA mode and most likely set to run in the slower PIO mode. Enable DMA made for this device, here's a guide if needed..

Here, shows that you may be trying to burn too close to the disks outer edge, have shrink create smaller file sizes of 4300MB. In shrink's preferences change the target size to custom and enter a value of 4300.

This may indicate that the burner is unhappy with the media you're using, the firmware update may fix this, if not try another brand like verbatim.

Never tried yours so I can not comment on it. Below are the ones I use.

Clean MyPC: http://www.registry-cleaner.net/
This one is free and you can backup the registry first but you can only remove 2 items at a time. But it is fairly safe.

Easy Cleaner; http://www.toniarts.com/products.php?PHPSESSID=be75997f4a33cf0609...

You might need to know more about the registry as this one removes more but as long as the color is green it should be OK

OK -- Updating Firmware -- check

Set to DMA by e installing drive -- check

clean my pc now only does 10 fixes but did some

been using and had success ritek ridata disks -- now they don't work after re imaging my drive -- but I am about to try again after all the fixes
