sorry to be posting an ebay item, i thought it might help my question.

could it be possible to play CLOSE to native 1080p on a computer monitor with a 1680x1050 res widescreen computer monitor?

i have the DELL 20.1" and it has DVI-D hookups, but would i need some sort of special adapter to use it on the monitor???
after all the PS3 IS a computer right?
will it have auto-scaling for pixel resulutions?

please help!!

i could go as small as a 19inch but i'll pay 300-350 max for that
no rebates(had a bad experiance with them)

There are a few ways to play console games on monitors.One way for you as you mentioned is a dvi-d to hdmi adapter(which I don't know if they sell em yet.)However I don't know how it will look because every monitor is different.

Another way is a tv tuner combined with dscaler.Dscaler is freeware and it takes the signal from the tv tuner and "remaps" the resolution to your current settings in this case "1680x1050 res widescreen" But you must buy a dscaler compatible tuner for it to work.

There are other ways but the quality is greatly diminished in most cases.
