I've never been a big turkey fan myself.
However, the last couple of years i've deep fried the bird and been thrilled with how it's come out.
A ranch flavor injection, and typically less than two hours total cook time. It comes out great.

Friend of mine does that (fries a 12 lb bird) once a year, but the novelty has worn off. Sadly, I must admit, is that a very juicy and consistant bird comes from the $50 turkey dinner I buy at the local chain supermarket, with all the fixins.

@Loco fair looks nice, did you get any candy floss at it? :)
@Jo - cooking turkey is easy, just buy one of those magic turkey bags and follow the instructions on the back, get a lovely juicy bird with no need to baste it or keep checking up on it! ;)

Eva brings up a good point and lots of TURKEY will be served this year that way... but again the satisfaction of cooking it yourself the easy way is missing. lol. I like to fry my Thanksgiving Turkey if the possibility arises. Sometimes the step-mom buys a smoked turkey and some spiral cut ham. Yummy either way. :D

For Thanksgiving and Christmas we get a choice of either a turkey or a ham (smoked 12-15 lb) for us to enjoy. All we have to do is defrost it and put it in the oven for a couple hours. we have over 2000 turkeys and hams to pass out.

When frying a turkey you do have to allow for the size and amount of grease in the pot. A friend of mine was doing one in his garage and had too much oil and it spill over onto the hot crawfish burner jet and caught fire. Not a pretty site, with drunk people trying to put out grease fire.

ROFL.. @ bunch of Cajuns running around drunk "peeing" on fire... hehehe. :P
Last year I think it was, I nominated myself to cook the turkey for Thanksgiving.... being the paranoid person my step-mom is she was all over my dad and I about safety and all that crap. lol. We fried the turkey in the middle of there driveway, which has 20-30 feet on either side for plenty of safety. Of course keeping the kids away from the thing is the most difficult thing. Curious little buggers. ;)
