Movies coming out on BluRay (and HD-DVD) will have the newer, improved audio coding for soundtracks. I'm interested in the new lossless formats namely Dolby Tru-HD and DTS-HD. These require HDMI version 1.3.

Does anyone know if the PS3 will have HDMI v1.3 and will be able to output these formats? Please provide links if you have them.

If the PS3 will not be able to do this I will have to budget another $1000 or more for a standalone BluRay player that can.

The HMDI v1.3 spec is set to be released this month. If Sony wants to future-proof the PS3 they have to find a way to implement the HDMI v1.3 standard. I for one would prefer not to get a standalone BluRay player if I already have the PS3. But I'm definitely willing to upgrade my audio system to take advantage of Dolby TruHD and DTS-HD.

I for one see this thread as relevant since we are in a PS3 forum and talking about the technical specs of the PS3 is one of the things we do in these forums. Also for me HDMI 1.3 is VERY important since I'm planning on an HDMI 1.3 compliant display plus I plan to upgrade my audio for Dolby Tru-HD and DVD-HD. If you don't see a point to this thread then why post in it at all?

I know it's important but when the guy answers his own question.It seems pointless.The ps3 will have 1.3 period.
