Is there going to be as much demand for the PS3 compared to the xbox 360? I mean when the xbox 360 came out, there wasn't enough to go around for everyone. Is that the same deal the with PS3?

Ps3 will be demanded for like crazy.only thing that can hold them back is if the high game price rumor turns out to be true then i think it will sit on the shelves. So likely sony will hit it on the head and have the games be expensive but not as much as is being rumored.

im expecting 59.99-69.99$ (60-70$) prices for games. reasonable, when the price of newer 360 games are $59.99($60). is it just me or is it not odd that the price of games went up $10 since the last system? 360 doesnt offer any new formats and doesnt include any cutting edge/revolutionary technology that would be considered drastically different from their previous system, so why are they playing us for fools???

pc games can often require users to upgrade computers or require games be played on the latest cutting edge techs... but games are still $49.99....interesting

I don't see the price being a factor in the launch window. Later on in the console's lives, it may play a bigger role.

Really???You think people will pay $90 a game?Thats insane to think that they would casaully pay almost tiwce the video game norm.
@eatsushi
Nah not a fan of the golf, names got nothing to do with golf like dbl bogey's does.My name is the word dingleberry shortened.Common factor is we both seem to dislike SONY.

My guess is because its harder to develop for the newer xbox 360 than it was for the xbox. And because the quality of the games visually and in otehr ways will be better on next gen consoles so it only makes sense to charge more.So developmental costs might have risen, just because its using the same disc format doesnt mean its exactly the same amount of work going into it all.Blu-ray/hd-dvd have yet to be proven as being needed so when sony charges extra because of the new format it too could also been seen as ridiclous.Oblivion is a large and great looking game that used barely half of the dvd so i cant think of why nore space is needed, its going to be a while before the game developers need extra space and im not seeing it happen this go round.

During the launch window, absolutely.

It is also insane to purchase the xbox 360 at a price numerous times more expensive than the msrp, but people still did that on ebay.
Like I said, later on the price may prove to be a factor, but not in the launch window when so many buyers will be avid gamers and fanboys. ("fanboys" in the non-derrogatory sense, that is)

i guess i could see what your saying. But ive seen many a sony fan already turn back mainly alot of the japanese have said they will get the wii over the ps3 which is a shocker.I know both consoles are japanese but sony owned japan for the last 6 plus yrs.I know of four of my friends who turned sony away and went ot snag the xbox 360 due to sonys console price. If the games were $90 and we know the console is $500/$600 that would be like a grand to just get the system with a couple games and extra controller.Maybe not a grand but too close to it,but i see what ur saying seeing as how people were seen paying up to 6grand for an xbxo 360 on ebay around launch but that type of stuff wasnt usual and was kinda blown out of proportion

well if you were to ask and compare which seems easier for devs to program for.. i think most would say the 360. im not sure this is 100% accurate, but it would seem some what logical to me, for this very reason...if you look at the number of pc ports the xbox/xbox360 has, i think its plausable to say the 360 is in part based off of coding similar to that found for window's games. to me it doesnt seem like mind boggling stuff here, but then again im not a programmer or an expert.
by the way, saying what you said about visuals and other things, you mentioned oblivion somewhere which is hands down a great visual game along with being fun to play, BUT the character's voices were repetitious which annoyed me, the mini games of the dark botherhood and thief guild got to be redundant. so with that said why would anyone have to pay a premium price for these features on the 360 when compared to the pc???

Exactly right - read this article about Microsoft's XNA platform:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_XNA
Quote: The runtime will be available for both Windows XP, Windows Vista and the Xbox 360. Since XNA games will be written for the runtime, XNA games will run on any platform supporting the XNA framework, with minimal or no modification.
The higher price of 360 games compared to PC versions is therefore puzzling.
The higher price of PS3 games should be easier to understand because of the more difficult programming platform plus maybe the BluRay medium.

Guess your right.Just a simple logical deduction to me... next gen console with next gen games your going to get next gen prices.not to hard for me to come to terms with.Games like gears of war and halo 3 couldnt have been made to the level of quality they will be made on the xbox so of course the newer games will rise in price.Once the new batch of games come out it will be clear to see why were paying more.
its like this you go to snag yourself a hamburger in scenario 1 and theres no cheese to put on your hamburger,no condiments,no nada to accesorize you hamburger. Now the people selling the hamburgers are going to charge you less knowing your getting the basic burger with no whopdy-do-das.Now you go to get yourself a hamburger in scenario 2 the'yve got mustard, cheese, ketchup, bacon you know the works? So you make yourself a hella burger...think burger #2 isnt worth more than burger #1... burger=disc type it remains the same in both cases as it does with the xbox and the xbox 360.the xbox 360=the extra that now facilitate that same great disc/burger but allow it to maximize its potential.
Lets be honest that was the worst analogy in the world but hey i had fun with it and was under the influence so enjoy that masterpiece.

Lol. Probably is in my top 25 :P One of the main reasons I want an Xbox 360 before PS3 is simply because it's out already (price is a lesser factor), but mainly because I like the Xbox controller. Sony's new one doesn't look that great - The Xbox S controller was perfect for driving and fps with those big sensitive triggers. I owned a PS2 for years before I bought and Xbox, but I found myself buying Xbox versions of games like NFSU2 and Far Cry Instincts simply because of the controls...
