I use dvd shrink and dvd decrypter all the time and havn't had any problems really, nothing that this site didn't help with. I did what i always do decrypt>shrink>and then burn with decrypt! But this time an error message popped up:"There doesn't appear to be enough space on the disc to burn this image.
Image size:2,307,420 sectors
Disc size:2,298,496 sectors"

I've never had this happen before? i tried putting a two different types of dvd-r's. i also noticed that the size of the
iso image is 4.40 gigs which adds to my confusion!

Source info:
Sectors: 2,307,420(mode1/2048)
Size: 4,725,596,160 bytes
Time: 512:47:45 (mm:ss:ff)

Disc Information:
Status: Empty
Erasable: No
Free Sectors: 2,298,496
Free Space: 4,707,319,808 bytes
Free Time: 510:48:46 (MM:SS:FF)
Supported Write Speeds: 4x

I just tried nero to and got the same response iso too big! Why would shrink, shink a 7 gig movie to something that wouldn't fit? and i didn't change any settings either!

Hopefully someone has a solution!

Hello.

In DVD Shrink:

Edit menu > Preferences > Preferences tab > select "Custom" from the Target DVD Size menu > enter 4350 in the MB box > click OK

Thanks for the tip. But is that why it did that?
I've done alot of movies without it ever doing that.
And That reduces the size on the iso causing more compression right?

it dosn't make any sense it only did this on family guy vol 3 season 4-disc 1 And i've done the first three season's before this one with out a problem?

You won't notice the compression if you set your target size to 4350 as laddyboy suggested. I have my target size set at 4400 and my ISO files come out to about 4.29 GB in size. I haven't had any problems with this setting.

I assume your target size was set to DVD5 in DVD Shrink. This is max size. It is always recommended to back off from that max size and avoid burning to the edge of the disk. The reason for this is because of the manufacturing process, the disk tends to go out of spec near the outer edge. Even if the disk burns successfully, there may be problems reading that area in the future and thus the use of the custom option to avoid burning at the outer edge.

What you set is the target size. Shrink attempts to hit this target but occasionally misses for one reason or another. If you're already set at the max size and Shrink misses the target on the high side, you're out of luck.

Thx Guys I've heard about disc's not working well at the end before. And once again because of this site i now know why! You guys are great!

I'll be sure to keep it on the custom settings.

And is there any specific page besides this with faq's about shrink?
Or did you guys just learn all this stuff from experience?

Cuz it seems most of the people on here just talk about specific movies not burning.

I think the official DVD Shrink support site was at digital-digest when Shrink was still being updated. I assume it's still there. There are lots of Shrink FAQs that are dealt with here in the Shrink forum. They usually come up when members post about Shrink not working.

Hello.

If you set your target size to 4700, you will have a problem. A single layer disk cannot hold 4.7GB of data. At most, it holds 4400 plus change. That's why in a post up above I suggested using 4300 or 4350 as the custom target size to avoid burning to the edge.

What size is DVD Shrink coming up with after compressing?
