I am using a LapTop NEC PC-LL5708D with 225meg ram, 1.67gig AMD XP Home with Service Pk2 using a MATSHITA UJDA740 DVD/CDRW drive.
Have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink with Nero6 installed. All correctly done. Aspi layers fine. Nero layer is fine. Everything operates well. Plays discs fine.
I am tryiong to burn with DVD Shrink but when at the final stages of options there is no DVD drive selection available. Just HDD or image drive and ISO. No actual DVD Burner drive selection. It is all greyed out in the DVD Shrink option at the end of selections just before burning.
I have seen this idea;

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/patchburn2_feedback.html

Which I have yet to follow through with...

And I have also heard that it might be an idea to try another version of NERO. But it is not like we all have the cash to just buy all of the NERO versions now is it.
So I am hoping someone has the goods on this.
If I can I will get a copy of NERO from a friend to try.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but your drive is a combo drive, not a DVD-RW drive. It will not burn DVD's, it will only read them.

I think Newegg has the NEC ND-6750 on sale for $70.00. I paid more for the one in my lappy about 3 mos. ago (85.00). I love NEC (Mad Dog)burners. When I started in 2002 my first burner was a 1300 with 4x, just died this year. I used it for 3 yrs. and my brother-in-law used it for a year(I was the only one that had a dvdrw-got used). Happy burning!

Thanks for your replies.I suspected it might be just that, a DVD reader not writer. Good to be confirmed. I will look for another drive to install then.
:-) Any list of good burners out there. lol. But thanks for the help. Cheers.
