is it just me or does DVD Shrink seem less and less capable of being able to cope with most new dvd released...80% of the new stuff i try to back up is a no go with shrink ..and most other programs ive tried..so that leaves me to think before long unless theres some new release about to come out its gonna end up like the dinasaurs?

That is because dvdshrink is no longer supported, it has not been updated for over a year!
EDIT: You can use DVDFab decrypter to break all the latest encryptions for free, it breaks the encryption while puting the movie onto your HD
Or you can use my favourite Anydvd from slysoft.

yep Katanga,
all that is true...........
but Shrink works great with Any DvD still..............
been using it for a while, not let me down but
maybe 1 time, could have been me as well..........
My opion, AnyDVD running, DvDShrink(movie only)DvDDecypter
in that order, works great on all the new movies///
you like many others on these forums, it could have to
do with your computer aswell....
the $39.00 is the best money you will spend on backing
up your movie's........................
$39.00 + DvDShrink + DvDDecypter best combo out there
right now..............................
gday............

On newer releases I use dvdfab to copy to my hard drive, shrink to compress the movie and DVD Decrypter to burn it. That combination works very well for me.
As for dvdfab it's no longer carried by AD in the software section so I don't know if I should post a direct link.
Just google it and dl the free version.

DVD Shrink may not handle the new protection, but the program still compresses and it is free. Also, DVDFab Decrypter is free and will handle the new protection. Put them together and no problems and both are free.

You are downloading the wrong program, you are downloading the pay DVDFab Platinum, Gold or Express. Go here and download DVDFab Decrypter it is just the ripper part of the pay program and it is free.

AnyDVD is almost a necessity now. When I opened Fun with Dick & Jane and Underworld with AnyDVD, there must have been 4 or 5 different levels of protection. It's not just Macrovision protection anymore.

What movies have you found that Fab can't handle and Any DVD can? Underworld Evolution was no problem for it, and most movies (even Dick & Jane) I still end up copying with outdated DVD Decrypter by itself or perhaps with the PCGedit plugin.
Personally I never used DVD Shrink to copy from the actual disc even when it was still updated. It's just plain faster to rip the disc first and have Shrink compress from the folder on the HDD. For this Shrink is still as good as it ever was.

I too rip first, less stress on the CPU because of faster transcode. Just MHO :)
