I know that Clone can preserve menus while re-authoring, which Shrink can't. Anything else? I'm just wondering if Clone will be worth my money.

well its kind of like a all in one, ripper, burner ect.....
AnyDvD and CloneDVD is about the best combo out there.
if you have a DvDBurner and a DvDRom, you can put the
orignal movie in the rom and the blank in your burner
it will read, build files, then burn directly to your
dvd burner...........................
gday...............

remember, shrink is free, so you will buying just one program. now let me tell you something, clonedvd2 can do almost everything better than shrink but one thing, to produce better quality picture. shrink is just better at that.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I 100% agree that shrink gives a better picture, even more so at higher compression levels.

I don't get it... how could Shrink have higher compression levels than Clone if it hasn't been updated in two years and Clone is constantly updated?

pazzini was referring to quality output with Shrink when the movie is compressed more. With Shrink if you have a movie that is at 50 or 60% compression you can do an advanced analysis that is a double pass and the set AEC quality settings for Max Smooth which will improve the overall quality of your backup. Clone cannot do this.

CloneDVD2 compresses twice as fast as Shrink. I've tested em both backing up the same movie and CloneDVD2 is much faster.

But Clone can't copy DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL. It keep saying the files are too large. I have no problem with Shrink and Nero when copy thd DL format. Maybe I miss something. Any can tell me?

For either DL discs, I find it far easier to use DVDDecrypter and do an ISO Read and an ISO Write to dupe a DL disc. I have burnt a couple of DL coasters using Shrink or DVDClone2. None at all with Decrypter.

Thanks for the advice. I will try DVD Decrypter and let you know the result in a couple of days.
Thanks,

With DVD Decrypter you are making a 1 to 1 copys, so you leave all the extras in. Doesn't do any good to take them out.
Also, it's weird but the links that the highlighted titles take you to the wrong links. CloneDVD takes you to a different, crappy program NOT from Slysoft, and DVD Decrypter take you to the AnyDVD link. Weird.

So make sure you reference CloneDVD2 when talking about the Slysoft product.

no, you don't have to have it but why not, decrypter will copy the movie(not the new movies from sony and disney)to your hard drive so you can compress it with shrink, then use decrypter again to burn to disc; shrink doesn't burn. for new movies, use fabdecrypter. is free.

shrink has never burned, it uses decrypter, Nero,CopyToDVD or IMGBurn(with the new folder update) to burn. if you use AnyDVD with either decrypter or shrink, you will do just fine with the new encryptions.
Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.
