On a number of occasions, when I ripped a movie with AnyDVD's ripper, & I try to throw it into Shrink, I get a message saying: Shink unable to open file. When I rip the same movie with DVD Fab Decypter, Shrink has no problem opening it. It's happen with new titles & movies that are as old as 2 years. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone know why this is happening? Appreciate any imput.

Said it before, and I'll end up saying it again, Any DVD is not the greatest program out there. They have to update it constantly for it to work right, even though other programs like DVD Fab Decrypter and DVD Decrypter only needed to be updated occasionally to handle new encryptions. Once they beat a protection it was beaten, that was it, no more updates needed. Any DVD seems to be updated with nearly every new title that comes out, and IMO that is some sloppy sh*t.

AnyDVD does NOT update protections every week. The updates are for new or returning features.
Regardless of what the freeby or nothing group says, I will stand by AnyDVD over these step hungry free programs anytime.
Why are you using AnyDVD ripper? With AnyDVD open, you can rip with shrink directly with no problem at all.

I use both freebie and have AnyDVD. AnyDVD is not a program but a driver which interfaces with other programs. DVDFab Decrypter works, but it also needs help from VobBlanker from time to time, in order to burn the movie.

SLaTheR, I was totally un-aware that I could just put a DVD disc in and rip it to my hard drive using shrink alone. I always thought I had to rip with DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab Decryter or use the ripper on AnyDVD,rip it to my hard drive, then throw it into shrink, then burn with decrypter. Thanks for tip!

My combination of choice as well.
Haven't met a DVD yet that can't be done either full disc or movie only with these programs. If there is a problem, wait 24 hours and the slysoft folks will have it beat.
I have used the freeware, and it functions very well, I am not putting them down. For those who don't have credit cards or only backup occasionally, these programs are invaluable. If you have extensive libraries and like to buy and backup ALOT of titles though, AnyDVD with shrink combo is most certainly your best bet. Also DVD Decrypter is an excellent free burner, even if its decrypting days are just about over.

I always recommend the free programs, but also will recommend the trial of AnyDVD. Problem is once you try it, you just have to buy it. Mainly because it works and makes things so much easier, and the support is there for the program. You can still use DVD Decrypter, which still will work on a majority of movies, just not the newer protected ones. DVDFab will only rip VOB files, for those looking to do iso, then using AnyDVD with DVDD will do this. And the slysoft people have really kept up with trying to have it integrated with numerous programs.

Hey gurnard, how are you. I never had good luck with 43, puter just did not like it. But AnyDVD works on all three of mine, so for this reason alone I love it. There is nothing like a happy computer :)
