worldwide launch november 17th. there are two different versions, a 20GB HDD for $499USD and a 60GB HDD for $599USD. the $599USD package is going to be the better deal. the cheaper model lacks an HDMI output, won't read memory sticks/SD or Compact flash cards, and won't have wifi capabilities

"Not only does the $499 PS3 lack built-in support for Wi-Fi broadband and SD and Compact Flash memory cards, but rather shockingly, the machine does not possess HDMI output."

lol I dunno but lacks "built in support" doesn't mean you can't get a add-on.The ps2 and xbox lacked built in support and you could still get a wifi adapter for them.

"Built in" meaning It doesn't come built in.I hope that's what sony meant lol.

The 499 modle can use a usb adapter of wifi. Plus you can connect it to a wirelesss router anyway it has a ethernet port

good point. But those usb adapter's have to have drivers installed in order to work.Plus most only work with windows.An ethernet port is for a wired connection not wireless.

That's one thing i like about the 360 is that alot of its key components are external such as the hard drive and wireless adapter. I mean if your hard drive is messed up on the ps3 you cant just pop it off like you can do with your 360...

@dngle ps3's drive is removable.

I like how elbarto still hasn't gotten an answer for one of his questions, despite like 13 replies to this thread.

Anyways, elbarto, the ps3 will still have the two SKU's available, one costing A$999 and the other A$829.
