I was getting so desperate to get my umd ripper to work that I thoought I might have done something wrong to my psp. Turns out that there is nothing wrong with it. I still cannot manage to run any games that I backup now at all. All my older games still work fine but its ones that I try and do now that wont assist at all!

Sweet, I havent been following the PSP scene in a while and I'm still running old school homebrews on 1.5.

Last nite I got the 0.51 devhook going on the third try. It's pretty cool emulating 301 cuz you get the web browser etcetcetc.

I have a small question and it's how do I run the ISO's? I have the iso's in a folder in the root of the PSP but I dont know where the menu/option is to run the games.

Thanks guys.

@soulja123- Try flashing your configfiles to flash1 again. When you start up DevHook, just plug in your AC adapter and go to FLASH INSTALL--->uninstall devhook flash files (third option) and hold O. When it is finished it will say "Press any button to return to menu". Now press any button and then go to FLASH INSTALL-->"install devhook configfiles to flash1:" and then hold O for one second. Then when its finished go back to emulated 3.02 and see if the ISO works.

BTW What ISO are you trying to run? It could be a bad ISO.

@wapak- Sorry my sites still down and I dont have an alternative link.

@PS360- When you start up DevHook go to UMD SELECT-->File Emulation and then select your ISO. Now when you are in emulated 3.01, insert a UMD (any UMD will work) and go to GAME-->Memory Stick and your ISO will run instead of the UMD.

@tanta- I posted a guide for the fix on my site but my site is down at the moment.

hi there fellow newbie!!

I've just got my own PSP up and running with homebrews myself.

Devhook (Device Hook) is software that you run on a psp with firmware v1.5 so that when you start it up it the psp will act like it is firmware v3.2 (or which ever version you select 3.02 is the latest)and then you will be able to play all of the latest games.

Hope that helps. this thread is good Eternalis is pretty regular at responding and knows his stuff!!!

glad you apreceate me humour!!

no need upgrade because in devhook you can change what firmare your running or exit devhook and go back to your original firmare. which will have to be either 1.5 or 2.71 I think. lots of place to findout how to install devhook the best one I got was from entralis's site ( which is down at the mo!) it here for when it is up and running again. also you will have to down grade to 1.5 which is a bit hard and you run the risk of bricking you psp!!!!! I ended up buying the files to downgrade off ebay only £5. (i'm in the uk) but lots of guide's here on forums etc.

I'm still new to it myself so I might not be right about all of it.

@Godstang- What firmware do you have? If its firmware 2.6 you will have to upgrade to firmware 2.71 before you can play ISOs or use DevHook. Once you have upgraded to 2.71 follow this guide:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/399310
(Scroll down to the "2.71 ta-082 only emulating 3.02 " part of the guide).

@tobnob- Did you use my auto installer mod? If so, you can delete the F0 in the root of your memory stick. You can also delete the DevHook firmware Installer files in X:\PSP\GAME\ (where X is the drive letter of your PSP).

Trying to install the latest devhook with 3.02 emulation.
I got the first bit done making the 3.02 dump and entered devhook, i began to write to flash 1 and a load of writing came on the screen (mkdir etc)
10 minutes have passed and the same screen is still on, should it end by its self or do I have to end it??
Should I turn the psp off and try and restart it.... is it going to be dead?

Never mind, I restarted and...... Its fine.

Was holding my breath there!

ok so far, I havent understood what Devhook is for. I understand that it´s for emulating other firmwares, but what does emulate other firmwares mean?

I´ve come to the conclusion that if u emulate other firmwares like v1.0 or v1.5 u can emulate snes9x. Right ???!!!

My psp´s v2.6, and I cant emulate snes9x because there is no compatible version of the snes9x with the psp v2.6.
So I guess that if I use devhook to downdate my psp all the way down to v1.0, I could install snes9x and emulate it, and then when I´m finished I upgrade my psp again to v2.6 and all is cool.

Dontcha think ? Is that what the DEVHOOK does? If it´s not plz br8k it down for me in simple words, ok?

But if this is what the DEVHOOK does plz tell me what the best version of DEVHOOK is for my v2.6 PSP.

devhook does not work how you think it does.

follow the guides in this forum to bring your psp to 2.71 and how to go to 1.5 etc so that you can run devhook. a 2.6 should be able to downgrade to 1.50.

You need to emulate newer firmwares really, not the older ones as most new games need the newest firmware and you don't actually want to do the proper sony update to play the game as then you will not be able to run any devhook/iso/homebrew so you emulate the newer versions to load up your games while your psp remains at 1.50 version.

Dude read a lil bit man before asking for someone to hold your hand to upgrade/downgrade your psp.

Devhook emulates the newer firmwares out there. Im emulating 301 on my 1.5 so I can have the best of everything really.
