What movie are you doing, Shrink cannot handle the newer protected movies on its own because of lack of updates. You will need to use another program to rip to your HDD and then run that file through Shrink. DVDFab Decrypter will rip all new protected movies get it here.

If it is an older movie, then check and make sure the disk is not scratched/dirty.........try cleaning it or take it back for another original

You didn't answer the question, what title are you trying to back up?

newer movies you might have to use dvdfab since it's updated (unlike dvd decryptor) but if you have AnyDVD runnign in the background it won't matter (correct me if i'm wrong arniebear) but with AnyDVD in the background DVD Shrink should decrypt the movie fine. I'm not sure about dvdfab, but dvd decryptor you can rip in file or iso mode(image). if you ripped the image (not .vobs,.bups,.ifos)you will need to push "ctrl + I" in dvdshrink to open iso (image). alos Make sure you are adding the .vob,.bup,.ifo files to the video folder in Nero if youhave a iso file you need to go to burn image in Nero

Yes that is correct. ;)
all28,
You have been given good advice! you can use either DVDFab Decrypter v2.9.8.1 or AnyDVD v6.0.3.1 t to rip the movie to your HDD, or just use AnyDVD running in the background while using shrink.
Check the disc for dirt, scratches, give the disc a good clean. You could also have a badly authored dvd in that case you will have to exchange it.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a copy protection. If the disc is in good shape, then that's probably it. Therefore, follow what was listed here and you'll be in good shape.
On a related note, I backed this one too with Shrink, but with the aid of AnyDVD.
