sony has said that the ps3 will be compatible with certain devices
what devices do you think the ps3 will work with
cameras are a definite
mp3 players are a definite
mass storage devices are too a definite
but what about cd burners and "other devices"
i really hope sony can get external dvd burners to work
but since it will have linux, it should work with the many devices
that the ps2 linux currently works with
currently have these consoles
Gamecube
Xbox
Ps2
Dreamcast
Phantom
Gba
psp

sony stated that "the ps3 is a computer, and there for you can buy any market usb product" or something along the lines when asked whey they lowered usb ports, stating if u have a usb hub you can have many more ports. so i could see any webcam, maybe your own headset, a printer, scanner, mouse, keyboard, and maybe even one of those anywhere-wireless internet ubs plugs to play ps3 in nowhereland online.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

this is quite exciting for ps3 users because the possibilities are theoretically endless! im sure the dvd burners would work, although they would need drivers which i dont think would be too hard to find considering the ps3 runs on linux which is a well-known OS. this i think will make it easier for things like homebrew, which should be more advanced for the ps3

Some printers are already supported under the XMB, and I think I saw webcam's as an option somewhere in settings the other day.
DVD-burners under the XMB I wouldnt think would happen as in Sony's eye's they would see it as opening the console to a lot of piracy related things, but nearly everything is compatible with Linux.
"This is how it works. Whatever you sink, we build back up. Whomever you sue, ten new pirates are recruited. Wherever you go, we are already ahead of you. You are the past and the forgotten, we are the internet and the future."-Brokep

You can burn movies and music through linux. I have an external dvd writer that I sometimes I hook up through linux. I'm still such a linux noob. Like Anubis said though that would be sweet if it were ever possible to do it throught the xmb
