Ok im sorta confused. ive looked at a few sites and went into my device manager and looked into my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers somehow they have lost there advance list so i cant even see if there DMI is set. i was able to get the advance option up once but tried to burn the movie and now the advance option is gone again. when i had the advance option i did have DMI if available but underneath it was showing PCI. problem is before they were showing with the numbers 2 2 4 and i think 6, when i encode the movie and it gives me an error message it say region 1 and dmi off, i dont know how to get 1 on the IDE and now i dont have the advance option here is the DVD Shrink message, help!
here is the error message:

Error #1020
hi there again. well i installed Nero the 7.2.3.2b version and for the life of me i couldnt get my advanced settings in my primary ide channel properties to show up. i did finally manage to get it up again by useing my roll back driver setting and in the transfer mode i ahve dma if available but below i ahve current transfer mode showing PIO mode on boh the primary and secondary channels and i cant for the life of me figure out how to fix this i tried buring a movie again and it encrypted but once again gave me the error above and then took away my advanced settings bar so i had to roll back my driver again and now im stuck. i even uninstalled the drivers for my burner and reinstalled DVD Shrink and Nero.
so now im stuck with the current transfer mode showing PIO Mode and the transfer mode showing DMA if available.
Also, as cynthia pointed out your error is power callibration read here on what that means.
Quote:Understanding DVD power calibration checks and problems
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The correct amount of laser power needed to write each DVD-R disc varies according to the individual recorder, disc, and environmental writing conditions, so before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power test to determine the optimum power for writing to the DVD; this is called "Optimum Power Calibration"(OPC). This whole process is controlled by the recorder, and is initiated by programs such as Nero or other disc writing applications.
The process is accomplished by writing test patterns in the Power Calibration Area (PCA), located on the inner part of the DVD, at different laser powers and reading them back to look for the differences (asymmetry or beta) between the lengths of pits and lands. A DVD-R disc's PCA accommodates 7,088 discreet calibrations.
The power setting responsible for the desired amount of beta is then established as the needed recording power for the disc. All the information acquired during the OPC operation is written for future reference in the disc's Recording Management Area (RMA).
The DVD specification also recommends the use of Running Optimum Power Control (Running OPC) to help ensure that the proper recording power is used across the entire disc.
Running OPC's ability to deal with variations in hardware and media (as well as dust, scratches, and fingerprints on discs) plays a critical role in ensuring data integrity. If you receive a "Power calibration error" error message the cause will be either poor media, poor power, or a defective recorder.
Quote:Power Calibration error solutionsTry another brand of DVD-/+R or DVD-/+RW media. This is the most common cause of OPC errors.
Update the firmware of your recorder. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest version.
Check your power connectors, loose connections do occur. Don't share power with other devices.
It needs its own power connector. If the error occurs with an external recorder, Check the USB cable
and connections.
Try different configurations, such as taking the DVD-ROM to the primary IDE bus as slave and have only the recorder connected to the secondary IDE bus as master.
Clean or have your DVD burner serviced. There are cleaning kits available. Sometimes just a gentle appplication of canned air can remove dust blocking the laser.
Replace the DVD burner.
