alright, if you look at final fantasy, its been realativly the same style of gameplay, with a
different-ish world every time. battles were always fun to try to play as strategically as
possible, quests were entertaining, battles took some time and/or skill, and the story line
were always great. but lately im really seeing some issure i have where its going.
number one: the way storyline is getting told.
if you look at x-2, you can go anywhere from whenever and the plot unfolds around you.
ff always had linear "go where you can when it becomes plot/quest nessesary" that kept
the game from spoiling fast. it also let you remember back in the old days, or if your a
repeat player, it lets you more easiliy reminice of your last play. it does not work right for
the way the series normal is brought out thru the course of playing.
number 2: omFg the music.
i cant tell you how annoying one piano gets ofter many hours of trying to play a game
series you love. on ffx it wasnt too much piano, and in ffx2 it was in the ammounts of
"plEASE...kill meeEE my god ear hemmorage!" (k maybe not that bad but it sucked) final
fantasy 7 8 and 9, aswell as most before like 3 i know for sure, had wonderful, kinda of
rpg epic music, with trumpets and a band, or some cool synth sounds. now were are
getting light and tready with our piano, arnt we Nobuo Uematsu? its not thrilling. i find
myself no longer really getting attached to characters because their personalities are
watered down and less crazy fun. (they were always wonderful like sephiroth, steiner,
amerant, seifer, king edward, and many more.) those kinds of characters ended up being
replaced by a scene boy, a lame eyecandy girl, an oddly reversed islander, some anti social
beast, a strange and relativly boring goth witch.
number 3: where is the connection?
in ffx, ffx2 alot, and in ffxi besides my own character (one of those giant things named
betty), i feel no real emotion bond to most of the characters like i did in the previous
games. ffx wasnt so bad tho, it got me mostly into it all. ffx2..wow i just wanted some a$
$, i couldnt care for the life of me about the girls or really the game because have the time
i was so aroused i had to put the game down and call my girlfriend. ffxi, there were really
no characters, and again like in ffx2, no linear plot, and it had no real end or way to play.
number 4: the battle system
i loved the battle system up till 9. 10's was ok, but without cheats you could never fully
unlock its potential (d*mn spheres). the only reason i sorta likes the dress spheres in the
porno we call ffx2, was so i could watch the girls (cept the ugly one) change for me, other
than that it completely blew, and levels mattered almost nothing. in ffx, it was too easy to
win or lose. either you would rape or get raped. you could do enought dammage to kill
anything in one hit anywhere, and in some places anything would kill you in one hit even if
you could have killed them (i.e. MORE HP PLEASE MFG). over all, the in battle is still ok in
either, ffx was mostly the old style, ffx2 was fun cuz you could be anywhere, and ffxi was
cool cuz you could fight without fight scenes and in public (so many times did i want to
take my awesome gold scythe and slash people, but alas square did not allow me much to
my dismay.).
number 5: d*mn effing straight, wheres the world map?
i loved that part of the game, it was always so interesting to fly thru the world, or do it on
chocobo. in the new games, i believe they might have the world map be the whole game,
where when you move in an airship or chocobo or car or w/e the game seamlessly loads
the needed parts (the unreal engine three dominates this task). but in 10 i was all
"wth..automatic travel..? :(" and x2 much the same. ffxi was pretty cool, and its much like i
said but it didnt have the seemless streaming.
number 6: 6 f*****g games in a number!?!
ok, so theres going to be ffxiii right? well theres already 13 verses, 13 some a word, and
three more planned for developement. ok, so the sequel with ffx bombed, you really think
you can pull have 6 and have your fans enjoy it? that mean i gotta wait like 6 years for
ff14, and im not up for that. this is a bad idea. plus one of the games you have to play on
a mobile phone (or maybe the ds since its as good as one..*not confirmed ok? guessing*)
that sums up my aggressions with where final fantasy is going. if i messd something up let
me know. 1-4 are originals, if i come up with any more ill let you know and then edit this
post. feel free to comment.
@diehard ff fans: dont dare rip and shread at me for this, its not widely excepted.
@others: soak in what i said and let me know how you guys feel about these and other
things and other issues too.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

I agree with on some points and not on others ill go in the same format as you did ^_^
1: Storyline
I agree with you. I never got into X-2 and i realy dotn count it as a true game. i think it was retarded. I love the way i way you could run around the World map avoiding this town or that cuz it would target the next story line and that was ok. Thats also what i want back the god dam world map!
2: heres where i disagree i love all the music done by nobuo uematsu. i think hes great.
3: Agreed. i thinkwere on teh same page. i mean FFx2 and FFXI in my opinion are whats draging down the boat. they are horible excuses for a FF game.
4: Battle systems have been great up to FFx2 and FFXI. FFXII is gonna be retarded also. I mean they took away the random battles. and your party pretty much. I man your party fights for themselfs. i mean yea u can tell em what to do but it seems like polite sugestions. I want random battles with Turn based battles. I mean yea they added a Real Time battle option and thats cool too, its great for ppl who like that. But in FFXII its to an a point where its retarded.
5: World Map
GIMME MY WORLD MAP BACK! nuff said

i edited in a 5, thanks for the reminder.
im gunna edit a 6 now after this.
on your 4, they really doing that? that would such so much. i loved turn based, its great. i like it when i have a party inside me and it swirls into random battle. thats what ff is.

yea no they arnt doing it like they used to. Now u can see the monsters and its like a hack and slash thing but with a menu and a timer before u can attack again. And u can go around monsters and shit its retarded.

there still trippy epic battle music and the customary "you won!" theme?

i dont think so... u see the original director retired and they put the guy from Unlimited Saga incharge. And he thought it would be a good idea to make it suck as much as his games do.

thats like filming war of the worlds with tim burton over steven spielberg. it just doesnt work as well, but it might be intersting at the same time.

Not gonna lie. I mean the game would be good, if it was something other then a Final Fantasy. if it was anonother game i might be able ot get into it and enjoy it if it wasnt FFXII. that may sound weird but ill never be able to play it by thinking its a FF.

Personally id have to say that final fantasy lost its feel in FF9, thats where they went downhill. They just didnt have the final fantasy "it" after that.

You cant beat final fantasy 7 it'll always be the best. You said Quote: alright, if you look at final fantasy, its been realativly the same style of gameplay, with a different-ish world every time
. Well i thhhink thats would the makers of ff (squareenix) want. Its that type of gameplay. They wont change it so its a different style. Over the years they made the gameplay (fighting) more complex, difficult and funner. Just look at ff 1 and then look at ffX-2. In FF1 they stayed still with 4 or 3 members in a line. Against the other(s) monsters/createres. In FX-2 they were moving around a lot more comands different people could do diferent thing and they werent just standing in a line. So it may seem like the same type of gameplay (because it is and thats good) but in a more in depth king of feel to it.

Awww man i cant believe you dont like that. Its so old school an it makes it so great.
What do you guys think about FFIII. Do you htink it wil "redeem" itself? Will it be good? I think so i looked at someof the cinematics they seemed awseome.

i just cant see ff without fight scenes. the music coming from nowhere as things attack, then the theme after? not right.

I really dont think thats true. Are you sure no random battles ? If you are certain then they must change that or else final fantasy might certainly go dead. Unless the new way they fight is good but it wont feal like a final fantasy.

Oh yeah demo i never got around to playing it. So you say theres no random battles. Maby it was just a part of the game were there was no random battles. Or they could possibly be testing it out to see if people liked it or not.
