has anyone seen the starview chip on e**y that apparently converts your clone and enables it to take the software for genuine boxes ?
the add says that some soldering skills are required - is there any point to it seeing as there is auto-roll software available for clones ?
Just curious about any thoughts you might have ?

with regards to the chip to convert your clone as far as i remember last time i saw them on fleabay it was "nula@:+_?" that were selling them and they also sell very bad quality clones i wouldnt trust them they told me there was no such thing as clones just before i purchased a box from them and low and behold a week later they were selling a 10quid chip to convert your box to an original so i'd steer clear and stick with the fixed software
i have one spare brand new original large box left from a bulk purchase if anybody wants it pm me

Hi all,
I just dropped over from the replay forum.
I am having a problem with a Starview clone.
API ver: 257e_E
Boot ver : 7.0
16. Aug.2006
This box was messed up, but I got it working by manually inputting the codes.
I am on nhell.
Will this software automatically update the codes????
I tried to update the box with GTRom Loader v4.00 using STAR_VIEW_H20060816_257eE_api_FIXED
Stb model reads GCR 3510
I tick the app file only, get the bin file and then Download.
I then get a message showing Error model name does not correct.
Any help would be welcome.
Please keep it simple, cause I am new to the Starview forum.
Hello scouser, My young buddy, hope all is well with you.

Hi mainman,
Nothing on that link that could help me.
What is the correct file that will make the starview clone update the codes by it's self???My connection to the box is working fine as It took a channel bin file but didn't load it, even after I waited for the pc to read complete.

Sorry Brian,
I have been off for a while hope you are well, I have read your posts and I have seen this type of problem before, it might be a corruption of the gtromloader in your registry,(even downloading a new gtromloader will not correct this).
Please see if these instructions will help you.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE NOT RUNNING GTROM 1ST, CLOSE ANY INSTANCES OF IT THAT YOU ARE RUNNING.
Do the following:
Click start then run, type regedit in the space then OK.
This will open up windows registry [CAREFUL NOW!!]
Browse to:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1659004503-1682526488-1202660629-1003\Software\Local AppWizard-Generated Applications\GTRom v4.00\GTRom
Look in the right hand pane, you'll see (Default),ML0, ML1, ML2, ML3 & ML4 under the Name column. In the data column the data for (Default) should read (value not set) in brackets.
The Data pane for ML0 should say GCR 3510 the others should be blank.
If it is not as above for either (Default) or ML0-ML4 just right click on either (Default) or the ML* (* BEING A NUMBER) that's wrong select modify and correct it in the value data pane then click ok.
Then exit the registry by selecting file then exit.
Next time you run GTROM all will be well.
