i've heard that the ps3 has a removable hard drive you could replace the one that comes with it and put 80gb hard grive or whatever the ps3 can handle is this true if so then ps3 already wins the console wars before it even hits store shelves

Yes it's true.Keep in mind though the 360 can also do the same thing.

No problem.The hard drive in the ps3 primo is 60gb as where the hard drive in the 360 is only 20gb.

So either way the ps3 hard drive is 3x bigger.Also ps3 will have linux os so it's way better than the 360 hard drive.

not arguing just asking... how does having linux make the ps3 have a better hard drive?for my own etification just inquiring is all

It's an entire os with homebrew, a web browser,apps,It makes the possibilties endless.It's just like windows making ps3 equivalent to a computer.

As far as space the ps3 primo would still have lots more space than the 360 even with linux.The value of having linux far outways any space requirment's

this may be a noob question but what does OS have to do with the hard drive?its go ing ot be intersting to see how the ps3 OS turns out, the web browser was pretty cool. but with so many kids and people having a laptop or pc all that stuff is extraneous or to me rather...its like having anotehr cpu but one that isnt needed.i mean u know its like having two cars that are identical essentially and only driving one of them.theres no things the ps3 OS will have that a PC wont have...i'll get off my sony bashbox but im just saying. Another thing and its rando what is so great about xbox live, i like the setup and all but for $50 a yr they should atleast be able to keep cheating to a minimum and they dont

Its an answer you already know.The linux os is installed on the hard drive so in fact it's part of the hard drive.The specs in ps3 can't be had on any pc or laptop at the moment.Hell you could say the same thing about 360's processor, but since it doesn't have an os It's not a computer.

As big as a pc can hold to the best of my knowledge.

For instance if they make a 250gb for it,it will hold that.I doubt you would ever need more than that for a ps3.Also there is usb ports that would allow for an external hard drive via linux os drivers.There should be lot's 3rd party hardware as well.

wrong sony has announced that the hard drive is not upgradable they want you to purchase the next model up or forget about owning one

Nope sorry but it's widely known. The hdd will in fact be upgradable.It's the first one on the chart on the system config section.Right under retail config.

well hdd disc can hold up to 45g triple layer 15g each layer so the dive should be bout 50g of space, it will increase or upgradable later on in life
