My Shrink has been acting very strange lately. Sometimes when I hit the button to begin backup the entire program vanishes from my computer screen for about 20 seconds (no open window, no tab on the toolbar, nothing) and then it pops back up and proceeds to process the DVD or file I asked it to backup. That is oddity #1.
#2 - Every so often during the encoding and burning stages, the active Shrink window will turn from Blue to Grey (active window to passive/secondary window motif if you are familiar with Windows when you have multiple windows open). Problem is I don't have any other applications or windows open. During encoding, this freezes the processing for about 15 or 20 seconds, during burning it just changes the window to grey for a couple seconds then continues back on blue. DVDs turn out fine.
#3 I was dubbing 16 Blocks and watching the video preview window while it encoded. It started showing the movie and credits overlapping each other and basically appeared to be scrambling the video. DVD recorded played fine, no overlapping scenes.
Anybody have any ideas what kind of computer bug crawled up my Shrink's ASCII?
You might want to keep your Task Manager window open to see which other apps are running at the same time as Shrink to get a clue as to why Shrink may dropping to the background.
I have this same problem, its on a pc I built for a friend.I just did a clean OS install,replaced,mobo/cpu/and ram with new parts.I didnt replace HD,although chkdsk says it is ok.I had everything working great,i shrunk 3 dvds to images, and returned the pc.I got a call yesterday saying that shrink gives the hourglass, and than disapears after clicking backup.I have not checked to see if burn with Nero is checked, although the Nero suite is installed on the pc.My next step was to replace the harddrive.Does ANYONE have any ides on how to correct this problem.
For some reason, my Nero no longer works by itself. I used to use it before Shrink updated to allow the piggy back. After then, my Nero would go though the motions of burning the DVD, but it would just spit out a blank DVD. Works fine with Shrink (aside from the weird window stuff), so I'm ok with it - but I don't know what I'd do without Shrink on the front end.
Your Nero is probably just very out of date. If you update Nero, run the appropriate Nero Clean Tool available at the Nero web site first. Best Nero 6 upgrade version is version 6.6.0.18. Nero 6 versions above this one will not work with DVD Shrink.
