I was told form a Gamestop here in AZ that the PS3 is $600 plus tax etc.. they are the only ones in my area taking deposits for the system. now I put a deposit down on the Xbox360 before it came out and was on teh first shipment well it got puched to teh 2nd then the 3rd and I eventually after 4 months after I should have recieved it got my money back. anyone know of a better place to buy one form that I will take a deposit to guarantee it?? best buy is a 1st come 1st serve and so are many other places except game stop which by the time I get anything from them the price will already be dropped a few hunded. well if you know anywhere please let me know

Missk, most of the name brand stores will start taking pre orders around the end of September. Sony has to figure out how much supply they will have before they want stores taking pre orders. Come September there will be lots of places taking preorders so it is just better to sit back and wait instead of going with some of the more obscure places

understandable. But where do you suggest is a reputable place. So place that will actaul have the system when I go to get it. Because gamestop usually seems to over sale and then they just don't even care and it's a hassle to get a refund form them as well. I hear toysrus will take preorders, but never got anything from them before. Also I don't want to do a purchase online I prefer to get it from somewhere where i can go and pick it up from. any suggestions??

That is why Sony wants to wait before companies take preorders to make sure whoever gets a pre order in, gets a system on launch day. Toys r us is good, i haven't had your problems with gamestop, maybe you should talk to them before hand and make them guarantee you a system if you pre order with them. EB games is good as well

ya I was suppose to be on the 1st shipment for the xbox and got bumped 4 times so finally got a refund, same happend with ps2 when I went there. well tahnks for ur recommendations. I think I will stick to toysrus

when you finally do preorder, the store should be able to tell you where you actually fall on the preorder list. if your atleast number 5 on the food chain you should be ok.....
sony did ask stores to hold off, otherwise it will be very difficult for stores to account for their preorders with the actual amounts and packages they receive. if 20 people preordered and all want the 60gig model, yet the store only received 10 60gig and 10 20gig models...there is going to be problems and people will find themselves waiting for other shipments. this is the problem in having different packages, with different capabilities launching at the same time..

good point. Now I don't know much about all this gaming stuff but I assume the 60 is a better package? So I guess I should just buy my brother that one so he doesn't complain. :)
