Hi stekapow
Is this a new problem w/ Shrink? Or did you just install Shrink and are having problems?

1st try uninstalling and reinstalling. Redownload Shrink for a new reinstall. You cna download it from here:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_...

This would be better in the Shrink forum - I'll request a move.

I had to rebuild my system and have reloaded and removed the program from different sources including the one you recommended. I used the program before I rebuild my computer so I know it worked before.

Ok what movie are you doing? Might be a cause.

Another suggestion is make sure you have the MS's directX 9.0c installed which Shrink uses.
Check in start>run>dxdiag.
Here's a link if needed:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx

Any movie. It locks up as soon as I try to open DVD Shrink. I mean when I double click on the Icon.

Check the directX version.
Up to date on all your windows updates?

Try that and if that doesn't work we can go from there.

edit: spelling

I give up. Last night I installed directx 9 and reinstalled DVD Shrink. It ran great. This morning I tried it again and the same old resuly, my computer locked up. Is there any other program that does the same as Shrink that I can try?

@stekapow
Well we may be making some progress. How about the windows uddates - are you current on those?

Anything different since you rebuilt(did you reformat?) your pc?
What's running when try & open Shrink?

If you have Nero - Recode will compress. Clone DVD will too. Neither are free or handle copy protected movies.
You would need to rip 1st with DVDFab decrypter (free) then open those files in Recode or Clone.
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

Or have AnyDVD running in the background w/ Recode or Clone (made by the same peeps) Not free but has a 21 day free trial. http://slysoft.com.

Check task manager>processes tab and see what's running there.
I'm thinking it's a conflict somewhere.
Install any new programs that are different from the last hard drive?
I'm also guessing you have no problems w/ anything else just Shrink.
