I will be getting a 60gb PS3 when they come out and so I am ready, I am getting a new tv. I'm probably going to get it by the end of August so I am ready for football season but I wanted to ask the experts a few questions b4 I buy.
1. When will broadcasts be in 1080p?
2. If I probably will only watch 1 or 2 Blu-ray movies a month, should I still get 1080p?
3. Would I even notice the difference when playing the games from 1080i and 1080p, or does it take a pretty savy person?
I am getting plasma or lcd so I can move it easily if I want to and this will be my first HDTV. I am not getting anything higher than 42" and no lower than 37"
Basically I want the best TV for Watching football and playing my ps3 that is a plasma or LCD and less that $1500. Obviously my only option for 1080p at that price is the Westinghouse 37" LCD but that has gotten great reviews. Thanks for your input and I hope this thread helps other people in there quest for a tv.
There are not many 1080p sets the size that you are looking for most are 50 and above. Also there is not a set on the market in plasma that has 1080p tech.1080p tech is still very new right now.
Damond dash has a point only 50' and above on dlp but know that there is a 1080p aqous I think its about 37' or 32 but and not sure. Another thing I heard that you couldn't play games on plasma, don't know if that true but I research it and get back to you on that.
Well like I said I've been looking at the 37" and 42" Westinghouse LCDs which are very reasonably priced for 1080p and have gotten very good user reviews. The are monitors tho, and you have to have a exteranl antenna source like a cable box and HD Antenna. Here are links to both of the user reviews
Well I pulled the trigger, Westy 42" LCD with 1080p...I have my computer hooked up with 1080p res and it's rediculous! Nov 17th couldn't come sooner! If any of ya'll are looking for a nice display for ur upcoming PS3, I would recommend this one. Check Best Buy online, sometimes they have a really good deal on it.
@ Chevyboy2, all the big sales are Nov.25, the day after Thanksgiving. So if you buy a tv about Sept.30 I think most retailers like Best Buy, Fry's, and Circuit City have a 30-Day low price guarantee, so if the price drops they'll refund the difference. Also I saw on tigerdirect.com they have a 32" Hisense LCD with built in HDTV tuner for about $900.
