I have a question?
Why when I backup my dvd using DVDshrink I am getting the DVD saved as a .MDS file which both Nero & MagicISO which I like using. MagicISO is the better burning software for DVD then Nero in my option. I have dvdshrink running on my old laptop PII 366 with 256Mb RAM and it backups to an ISO file but I installed DVD Shrink on my P4 3.0GHz desktop with 512Mb and it saves the same dvd as a MDS file. Any suggestion.
P.S. I installed Nero 6.08 also with no suceess

You could try updating your Nero to 6.6.0.18. I don't have the direct link, but Binkiei7 does. Plus, you could try downloading ImgBurn and choosing the "Save as ISO" and then processing the file with ImgBurn. It will work even better than Nero (IMO).

.MDS files just tell the program you use for burning, what to burn. if you have the .iso made and an .mds, you could burn either one and get the same finished product.

I tried Nero to burn the MDS file with no success. I will update my copy to Nero 7 and try again. Why is it not working with Magic ISO

U can try ImgBurn, it is a much better burning program for ISOs, it is free too heres the link

Could DVD Shrink be saving the image as a MDS instead of ISO for one of two reasons.
1)I installed the MagicISO / Nero after I installed DVD Shrink
2)My Hard disk is configured as Fat32 not NTFS
Or Both

this is the reason, since FAT32 cant have a file bigger than 4Gs,
but u should still have image files that make up the movie,

Try ImgBurn and just select the MDS file and it should burn successfully
